After trudging my way through the immigration process on my own, I've finally joined a group to ask for advice.

My situation: I'm from the US and, of course, a citizen. My wife is a Syrian citizen and we met in Damascus, Syria several years ago and got married in Turkey in June 2011. I filed the I-130 and the G-325A (they were accepted), paid all the fees, and have done everything up to the point of affidavit of support. Now, with the exception of a month in 2010 when I went back to see friends and family, I've been out of the States since March 2009 (currently, my wife and I live in Turkey). From what I understand, due to the fact that I do not have a US based income, I need a cosponsor and my parents gladly agreed. Now, here is my first question: which form do I fill out and which one does my step-father (and my mother also?) fill out: the I-184, I-184a, I-184w, or I-184EZ?

My second question is concerning domicile. How can I prove to the gov that I intend to resettle in the US with my wife? Can I just write up a letter on Microsoft Word explaining that I'm waiting to return to the US but once my wife's visa is ready???

Thanks,

Denny

You and one of your parents will complete an I-864. If one parent qualifies as a joint sponsor on their own, then the other parent would not need to complete any other forms. However, if one parent does not qualify on their own, then one parent fills out an I-864 and the other parent fills out an I-864A.

Correct. First get the form number correct.

Dealing with the domicile issue tends to vary with the Consulate. At the very least you need a US address to come back to and to have filed all your tax returns while outside the USA. Did you maintain a driver license and bank account in the USA?

1. one I-864 on the petitioner (you)

2. one I-864 on the parents

3. must be able to show evidence of re-establishing USA Domicile by interview day, as it'll be asked for on interview day.

Good Luck !
