My wife had an interview today ( at the US embassy in Lima, Peru) and they told her she needs to submit a affidavit of support from a sponsor due to the fact I did not make enough money on my 2011 tax return. NVC told me I was going to be OK since I currently make enough money, but I started my job in February of this year (2012). At the interview they asked her to submit an original tax return from a sponsor and send it to the consulate with her passport via DHL. Since I do not have a problem providing them with that documentation....

My question is how long will it take for them to give her the VISA (given they accept the sponsors documentation) if she submits it by Monday December 17th? Thinking she was not going to have trouble getting her VISA I already bought her flight to Washington DC for December 27th. I know this was not a good idea, but it is too late to change her flight. Please someone help me. I really appreciate your time. Thank you.

when did you file for k3?? it was approved before I-130?

Yes, the NVC approved my financial paperwork and assured to me my wife would not need any joint sponsor. Now the embassy are saying she needs a sponsor. I am so disappointed with the system. If I would of known i needed a sponsor I would have taken care of it before her interview.

so, you submitted a I-864 into NVC?

YES? NO ?

Please understand, the I-864 is taken at NVC, a gross-level check done,

but the I-864 is actually reviewed for completeness and a decision is made whilst the IV unit is adjudicating the casefile .

Just cause NVC not complain, doesn't mean the IV unit will take it.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

yes i completed a i-864. i understand what you are trying to say, and all I am asking is for an estimation of time for my wife to get her visa once the sponsors affidavit of support is submitted. Are we talking about days, weeks, or months?

Thank you I really appreciate your help
