I realize this is probably a really dumb question about sufficiency of evidence, but I was hoping someone could provide me with some clarity.

I am marrying my fiancé in January in Romania and filing I-130 soon thereafter and I have, so far, accumulated the following evidence in support of our relationship:

1) 30-50 emails (there are a TON obviously but I just picked some that seemed most salient--about money, our relationship, trips, parents, children etc-- and spanned the time we were together)

2) Skype logs (if I can figure out how to print these without printing out the whole conversation history)

3) we have used yahoo messenger for almost two years, I suppose I could attempt to go through that absurdly long history and pull out messages spanning that time

4) money-transfers over a year (a rather significant amount for living, child care, etc....and emails discussing money as well)

5) affidavit from my BOTH my parents (basically saying the same things) and from a friend of mine

6) marriage license obviously will be included

7) we could, obviously, open a joint bank account while I am over there as well, but adding her to mine seems extremely complicated because she is not here, obviously, and we don't have the forms of ID that they require?

I feel like the emails, the affidavits, and the money-transfers should be sufficient but I am not nearly as familiar with this process as you all are. Also, I am including an affidavit from my parents (or just parent if multiples saying the same exact things would be redundant) explaining the veracity of my previously terminated marriage (some unique circumstances surrounding that so I wanted to pre-empt/put to rest any thoughts that might arise).

Thanks,

J

Take plenty of pictures while you are there. Wedding pictures, pictures of you with her family and pictures of you and her. Save your boarding passes and copy the stamp in your passport. Hire a photographer for the wedding. Mine was cheap in Ukraine. Any receipts for things for the wedding, rings, dinner, flowers. Get her to sign the documents while you are there. Good luck.

Hey PhilC, thanks again for the response. If I do those things, with the pics (forgot to mention those), receipts, along with what I have now (and do I need to print out ALL the chat-logs?) will that be sufficient? Besides joint accounts or property (which we can't obviously have right now) it seems like this is all that could be available. And the money-transfers seem like a reasonable substitute for joint accounts.

Thanks again,

J

Hi, you know I've the same questions as you. I started collecting proofs about my relationship with my husband and since I don't know if they want just a proof that our whole relationship is real (since the day we've met) or just the marriage span (1 year now) so that's what I'm doing. I'm taking screen shots of our FB conversations (a couple of screenshots from every month going waaaaaay back in the past). Since we've had a long distance relationship until last year (then we met and got married in 4 days), we don't have pics of us together and even after the wedding, we didn't take too many pics. I think all the pictures that I can show are a total of 10. To make up to the lack of pictures I thought I could get every piece of evidence that shows that we're a real couple like cards for Christamas from friends and family, my nephew and niece drawings of me and him together (they wrote our names on the scribbles too), invitation for my brother's wedding with both names on it,a certificate for a married couple retreat (it was a trip with his unit) and the paper that says that I am the 1st beneficiary of his life insurance and the 2nd are my parents and the receipt of the plane ticket I got to go visit him.

That's all I got. I have no wedding pictures, no general pics together, nothing that we own together or stuff like that. You know if I was you I would just make sure to give them all you got and not worry. I think they're used to deal with situations like ours and the proofs we bring are just part of a whole process. I think everything is gonna be all right.

Good luck to you both!!!

P.S. I apologize for my English but is way too early for me to even try to correct mistakes.

3 photos (on vacation together, with my family, a wedding photo)

Letter of intention written by him (US Citizen) explaining how we met, how he fell in love with me, etc.

The more you have the better it is but obviously everyone has differ situaituins for example not everyone has acess to internet so one may not have skyke call logs or email/facebook but that person can show phone records, money transfer or photos .. what you have is good enough

For me i only have call records, money transfer receipt which is sufficient cuz call records shows how many times a week we talk and for how long so..

We sent:

  • Skype log showing our video/phone chat durations
  • Photos from 2 of my trips to the USA
  • My passport stamps from those trips
  • Joint bank account print off
  • No wedding photos (we didn't have a ceremony) so we only had our marriage certificate to 'prove' our wedding
  • My spouse military ID card

That was sufficient, no explanation of how we met etc. We thought the amount of time we spent chatting to each other (something equivalent to a whole month of chatting 24/7) was enough to prove we were legitimate in itself!

Hey how do you go about printing off the Skype call log just with durations? What is the method for that?
