Hi Guys,

We just got our interview date for November 19th at the UK Embassy... I was just wondering if anyone thinks that the election could possibly effect the Visa's that are already in process...

Any thoughts welcome...

Hope everyone is staying strong and things are moving along cool.gifsmile.gif

I'd say NO. I don't see a connection.

I agree with the others. I don't see it having any impact. I see business as usual other than the coming holidays. Even if the implementation of some change was in the works, rarely does any change in government happen quickly.

Maybe OP thinks there will be a melee when Romney looses. Like rich folks throwing empty jars of Grey Pourpon at the unwashed 47 and 99 percenters.

Gowon

I love your comments and I loveheart.gif your personal profile Quotes even more! Both of them of genuine and genius, and really say a lot about you, in all the good ways ;-)

"I create strong emotional feelings in others that they themselves don't understand."

Gasp, yes it's true, I have no timeline. One of my favorite threads on VJ, a must read which explains why timelines are overated and can cause most to have angst.

Thank you for taking the time to comment...

But the more people that have a timeline the less angst because the more accurate all of the timelines then become because there is more data to go by! :)

Any melee in immigration reform will most likely be non relative visa related (especially relatives of US citizens).

Thank you. My views/comments comes from a weird mixture of a Nigerian Guy that grew up with a British/Indian structure and now living in America (26 years). It's sometimes a confusing cacophony of culture clash.

But the more people that have a timeline the less angst because the more accurate all of the timelines then become because there is more data to go by! :)

Yes but what use is my timeline to somebody else except to create angst and confusion? For example, I breezed though NOA1 to embassy interview in 5 months, I think it's unfair to lead anyone else to expect/assume similar when some VSC folks are waiting for NOA2 at 9 months. You already have folks that want to write the President in 90 days from NOA1 because they saw a trend stating that CSC was averaging 90 days. That's the thing with averages, well it's just that average, yes.

When I'm done with this process I will write a blog specifically tailored to K1s in general and Nigerian portal in particular. I think that is what is most useful, the totality of the experience and not just a quick bite of the process.

The forum requires us to have a username and one cannot proceed with registration unless one is provided. On the other hand, having a fully filled timeline is not q requirement.

Most importantly, what if I had a skanky-pervy-stalky type Ex that wants to cause me great inconvenience? Should I make it easy for her to track my life's pursuit or have her do some actual work like searching through the forum to find info on me? We all know Psycho types are easily distracted so chances of actually work instead of quickly skimming the profile are slim.

I hope that you understand but not necessarily agree.

Cheers.

I do have to agree! Unlike everyone else's experience at the time and through everyone else's timeline, I truly thought the process would take 5 to 6 months, we got approval of our Petition in "82" Days!!!!! That was even better than my dream timeline! I am always one to hope for the best and plan for the worst, and the timelines helped me plan for the worst... But would I have wanted to think that I could be approved in 82 days, No Way!!!!! but I am so FREAKIN THANKFUL that we were...

All I know is we are all people bonded by an experience, and I am so thankful to have this place and all of you!

Four years ago, the K1s-in-waiting we're all talking about how, as soon as Obama was elected, all that was wrong with immigration would be fixed. Their long waiting would would end and all would be happy. It is no different...actually taking longer. A presidential election and one man can't change immigration that much.

I got through VSC in 50 days and was disappointed because the timelines from the month before me were getting approved in 2-4 weeks. The following month's lot were devastated because it was approaching 70-80 days for them. Everybody at CSC was wishing they were at VSC. It goes up and down. The total experience has taught me you just carry on and know it will happen, but there's no telling when so stop asking. How long is a piece of string?

I am no authority on the subject. I just remember in 2008 when I was waiting, there was a lot of talk of USCIS focusing on a backlog of naturalization so they could vote and putting K1 and K3 on the back burner. I dont know if there was any documentation to point to that as a fact or not. Just a quick Google search showed me that there was talk of that causing delays in visas other than naturalization.
