Is Big Bird really all you Liberals have left to fight with.. Sad news .. I fail to see the big deal, he said even though he liked some of the programing he would agree to cut funding. I totally agree. With hundreds of cable channels now, Discovery, NatGeo, etc PBS is a dinosaur we no longer need. I could name a good many more.

One example-- In my home town, we are about a 1 hour drive from ATL GA. However the Fed Govt insists we need a commuter airline service that hardly anyone uses. "it's faster to drive to Atl"

In thier infinite wisdom and despite the fact none can make a profit they have given several million to another company to provide several flights a day to Atlanta. The Govt subsidy will cost approx 500 dollars per ticket. ... You can ride the shuttle service for 40... We have got to stop ####### like this.

Somehow, the irony is lost on the idea that cutting the funding of public television, which has enriched many children through educational programming, is good fiscal strategy. It's both humorous and sad at the same time.

PBS has some quality programming and endig the government subsidy would not be the end of PBS. Typical liberal mantra. If government funding ends PBS will die, children will starve if we do not feed them at school, etc.

Sesame Street is not dependent on Federal Funds. Some of the crapola programming may be, but Sesame Street is a proven product and will be on TV for many years to come, govt funding or no. Very little really depends on Federal Government funding that could not be replaced with other sources of revenue.

The need for PBS has long since become obsolete. With hundreds of TV stations, dozens of media outlets, the internet...the "raison d'etre" of PBS or NPR has been superceded. Federa funding for both should be stopped. They can survive without it. Maybe add three hours of Rush Limbaugh to NPR each day and link up with FOX News to fund PBS. I am sure they would find a solution.

The only reason I liked PBS was because they showed Monte Python, and occasionally, you could see boobs. Mind you, as a teenager, that was through the snowy reception on a local UHF station, but for a teenager, Carol Cleveland's boobs were worth staying up late for. Now, I really don't care, and rarely watch anything on PBS, except for the occasional NOVA. Even the science programs on public broadcasting lean left.

Except at least some of the funding for Nova comes from one David H Koch. ;)

Bare breasts? Really? I should watch more often.

I don't know if they are bare but I imagine they are large, sweaty, hairy,..... at least the ones on the boobs I am referring to!

Too each his/her/its own, I guess.

You mean 'to each...' Or maybe TWO each!

You can have the ones from Fox! Especially the likes of Rush, Glen, etc. If they were to bare their breasts the mass vomiting nationwide might be a real phenomenon! There are some on the left not much better I am sure. Hopefully I never have to view any of it! What is seen cannot be unseen!

Funny thing is, just delaying the military spending increases that Mitt is proposing by a single year would provide funding for PBS for 500 years. Let that sink in for a moment and then tell me again that Romney truly believes that PBS must be sacrificed because we cannot afford it.

It's a symbolic gesture for Romney, just like raising taxes on the rich is symbolic for Obama.

Neither is going to fix the debt problem.
