Hello! I am sending my 129-f packet soon. I have a couple of questions:

I am confused about showing proof of U.S. citizenship. I made a copy of my birth certificate, well a copy of a certified copy of my birth certificate. Is that okay to use? I thought it was my actual birth certificate but at the bottom it says "Certified copy of vital records."

My mother is going to be our co-sponsor. It is okay if she writes the $340 check for the filing fee?

K-1 Process:
11/06/2012: I-129F Sent

In the I-129f instructions says: "If you were born in the United States, give USCIS a copy, front and back, of your birth certificate", so it's ok just a copy. Passport copy is also good for proof of US citizenship(copy after all passport pages)

And yes, your mom can write the check on her name, but tell her to check this link before she fills it out, so that it won't be any problem with the payment:)

Sorry, but i have to contradict you a little..

One document is enough. So it's either copy of US birth certificate OR copy of certificate of naturalization OR copy after all passport pages(issued with a validity period of at least 5 years).

Yes, send a copy, front and back. No one ever has their actual original birth certificate. You get certified copies of them from the state you were born in. USCIS wants a copy of the certified one you pay for and obtain from your state.

Yes, she can write the check to pay for it.

That's fine and I won't take it against you :)

I should have mentioned that's what we did when we submitted our application and it won't hurt to submit all possible proof of citizenship
