Id like to ask.. I already have my interview sked. Now fr the appointment letter it says that, "If u file an Affidavit if support/ I-864 of Income tax return with extension in lieu for Federal income tax. The applicant must bring it on the interview day".. Something like that.. Anyone here knows what that extention means? Kinda confused. Please help me out with this guys..my interview date is fast approaching in abt 3weeks time. Thank you.

Yes, it is wise to bring all the supporting documents to the interview. In this case the sponsor's income and tax return information should accompany the I-864.

Go to this website, select the link under option 3 and then after filling out your personal info select "Return Transcript" and the years. That is all most of us need to bring, it takes about 2 weeks (I think) to receive it so you likely will be cutting it close to send abroad to get it before the interview (if you haven't already done this part).

If your sponsor did not file a Return for 2011 but received an 'extension' that is 'additional time' to file it the person must file the return and give you the documents or transcript to take to the interview.

So, the husband sent off the 2011 tax info into NVC with the I-864.

An extension was not filed for tax year 2011 (gives a human more time to submit the tax return and/or pay the tax)

so an extension did not exist.

Think about it- how can you submit into USEM something that does NOT exist?

I know that it's not common in Philippines to file for tax extension, but over here, if your spouse doesn't file for his income tax before the deadline April 17, 2012 of this year then he can file for an extension. But since your spouse already filed it, then you don't need to worry about the extension and just bring his 2011 federal income tax return.
