Testimonials with I-130

Hi all, quick question about testimonies/affidavits that support our relationship. My mom, sister, and best friend (all USCs) have written and signed them in a format suggested by a VJer.

At this point, would it be OK to send copies of their signed forms in our I-130 packet? Or do we need to send the originals?

Well, we have sent copies of our affidavits at this stage, since the instructions state to send photocopies except the forms that should be signed and sent in original.

What I understand is that on 1st stage (at USCIS) you send the copies of all your documents (affidavits, marriage and birth certificate etc) and once you are on NVC stage they may request you to send the originals, or if they don't and you send everything electronically at NVC stage, you will need the ORIGINALS when you go to the interview at your consulate or embassy.

My lawyer advised me that, while documents should be copies, affidavits had to be originals.

hmm okay... two responses, two different answers, both sound reasonable... any other ideas?

note: they're not legalized or notarized or anything like that, just normal signatures.

Then you are probably fine with copies.

I am talking specifically about sworn affidavits before a notary public.

I say originals.

They will travel with the casefile,

from USCIS, to NVC, to the IV Unit.

USCIS adjudicates the petition,

NVC does more doc intake for an immigrant visa

and the IV unit reviews all prior to interview day, doing adjudication on the immigrant visa application.

We did not submit any relationship evidence in I-130 package other than Marriage Certificate and we have our visa in hand without any issues. Having said that each case is different, if you think your relationship related queries may come up in I-130 review, then you should submit only original / certified documents as an evidence.
