Thanks Chica....

I live in Philly & drove to Newark-it is a pretty easy ride......let me know what you find one mapquest. Beware-that site tends to be REALLY dramatic with their directions.

I was just thinking and hubby has no clothes that are appropriate for this weather. So he'll be out and about with no sweater/jacket/ or coat...until he gets to me.

And he's traveling at night and the temps really drop ...brrrrrr

I feel for ya both. I was in same position only opposite when I came across. I left Sydney in the cold months and came to heat. My flights where delayed all the way and when I landed in Honolulu after a 9 hour flight (?)from Sydney where I thought I would have time to change into something more suitable, it wasn't to be. I hadn't changed on the flight because we were told on board initially that we would be remaining onboard if continuing on to the mainland. New flight for qantas and it wasn't the case.

I sweated like a pig in the honolulu sun as we were shuttled to the main terminial. After going through immigration, I waited for what seemed like forever to collect my baggage as instead of those travelling on to the mainland with the same flight having their luggage removed first so to make the departure time, we were last lol Then long wait in long queue to check baggage in, luggage all fell off trolley, I was hot, sweaty, miserable and tired and they had big fans to help cooling. Long queues again to go through security...looking at time and knowing I was cutting it fine to make my flight. A few of us that were together to go on to mainland had a major stress attack when we looked at the board and seen that our flight had departed already hahaha Frantically asked for assistance and told it was error, that they were waiting for us.

OK.......the terminal was an awful long way away for any that know honolulu know what I mean. None of those shuttle thingies around so we all made a run for it. More heat, I still hadn't had time to change, so I was just about dead on my feet and about 10 lbs lighter (I wish). Hadn't yet managed to have a cigarette since leaving Sydney so here I am running, carry on luggage in tow, barefoot now as I couldnt run in my heels, and cigarette in hand as I tried to both smoke and balance other things in my hand lol was hysterical. Made the flight..........and guess what, it gets delayed hahahahaha wankers.

Too exhausted to change now so just enjoying the cool of the plane and sitting down again. Finally off to LAX. Finally managed to have a wash and change into something cooler on arrival. Flight delayed 4 hours but at least now I was cooler and sat outside in a garden smoking like a chimney until I had to board my connecting flight to Orlando. I was so over it. Could barely muster a hug with Dan when I finally arrived.

Look at this fancy airport site they have with directions & everything! ;)

NJ Turnpike

Take the NJ Turnpike to Interchange 14 (from points north) or Interchange 13A (from points south).

After paying the toll, follow signs for Newark Airport. Once on the airport, follow the specific roadway signs for each Terminal, which list the individual airlines in that Terminal.

Garden State Parkway to I-78 eastbound

As you proceed east on I-78, you have to choose between I-78 "Express" or "Local". Choose "Local" lanes.

Exit at 58A, signed: "1 & 9 South; To NJ 21 and US 22; Port Newark, Newark".

Soon after exiting, the exit ramp divides.

Follow signs for Newark Airport, Terminals A, B and C.

Once on the airport, follow the specific roadway signs for each Terminal, which list the individual airlines in that Terminal.

On my last trip to the UK, I got to the airport to find out that the plane I was supposed to be on was grounded in some Carribbean island while the ATC went on strike there. So British Airways sent another plane...only half the size. Naturally not being early, by the time I got there, the first-come first served seats were taken.

Oh, and BA was exceptionally nasty about it as well.

The best they could do was offer to put me up in a hotel, then bus me the next morn on a 7 hour bus trip to Atlanta, another hotel, then over to London the following morning.

I said 'how about I just go home and you put me on your next guaranteed flight?' I had said about that 'Rule 420' or 240 thing that I heard on Oprah, and they were looking into getting me on a Virgin flight to Manchester (which would have been closer anyways), but the flight was full.

Oh, Dave had already started his drive to pick me up. He had left our home in the NorthEast to do the London drive later in the evening, so he was all fresh for me the next morning when I should have arrived. Anyways, by the time we got in touch, he was almost in London.

So what's the sense of staying in London for a few days alone? He drove home and did the drive again a few days later. Poor guy!

Anyways, sorry for the reminiscing, but my point is all was forgotten when I finally got back in his arms. And for those of you who read that 'white flag' thread of mine, that's the story of what happened after we got in the car leaving the airport (L)

Wow, he had to drive all the way back, and come back a few days later....dang!

After reading LisaD and Aussiew's posts. It makes me think that this is not so bad.
