We had our AOS interview in Orlando today; we arrived about 30 minutes early and ended up having to wait for them to open up. We waited maybe 20 minutes before being called and the entire interview lasted all but 20 minutes. We brought tones of evidence and photos, was asked to produce my passport, driving license asked if I knew my SSN and asked to see the SSN card asked for a marriage license and my wife’s DOB. The wife was asked a few random questions. I was asked about my past convictions, told the officer I was 13 or 14 & 15 when they happened and they were petty, he said that’s fine. I wasn’t asked for original police certificates or certificates of conviction.

After that out came the I-94 and in went a big red I-551 Stamp good for a year  . I was told I should have my green card in about 3-4 weeks and should apply to remove conditions 3 months before our 2 year green card expires. :energetic:

We showed the officer the letter we received from USCIS asking we bring police certificates and police clearance for all addresses in the US, G-325A for my wife and original birth certificate for my wife. We were told it might have been a clerk making sure we had all the correct information ready for the interview, said we didn’t need any of it, was all there.

And that is that, all is over with for now at least! Thanks to everyone here to helped us along the way! :)

I’ve attached a fuzzy (taken with digital camera) image of the I-551 Stamp. :D

Congratulations! I'm very happy for the both of you! I have my own interview coming up this Friday (in 3 days!!!), and I'm happy and anxious! thanks fot the tips, I'll bring everything they've asked for knowing they probably won't look at them, but it's always better to be safe than sorry, right?

Hopefully they'll stamp me too! wanna go home for Christmas!

My story:

09/23/2002 - Met Chris online, there was something very special about this guy =0)

07/16/2006 - We got married in Reno, Nevada.

USCIS:

08/13/2006 - Filed for AOS, AP, EAD - they were VERY carefully packaged with a detailed cover sheet on top of each of the forms, just as VJ's instructions recommend. It was A LOT of work, but it did pay off! (we firmly believe this is what sped up our process big time)

08/31/2006 - Biometrics appointment

09/09/2006 - Received my AOS appointment date!

10/26/2006 - EAD touched and AP APPROVED!

10/27/2006 - AOS appointment at 7:30 AM! APPROVED IN EXACTLY 70 DAYS!!!

11/01/2006 - EAD approved

11/02/2006 - Email notification - greencard will be mailed as soon as it is ready! YAY again!

11/02/2006 - Welcome to the United States of America letter in the mail! Almost there! =)

11/06/2006 - EAD card and White card (a.k.a. greencard) arrive in the mail!

Journey Total Duration: 80 days

Filed for removal of conditions on 07-28-2008 and had them removed on 09-10-2008

Thanks for the responses, it’s very much appreciated! :)

I’ve attached another clear image of the I-551 Stamp for those who wish to be able to read what it says. I’ve removed all identifying information and left it looking quite naked. :hehe:

Congratulations again and thank you for the details. Let me ask you something did they just give you the I-551 stamp or did you ask for it. And if you ask for it what did you say? Thanks because a lot of people ask that question here on VJ. So that I can advice them in the future.
