I sent my I-129F packet to the TSC last week via certified mail and I checked the status of the package today online. The status said:

We attempted to deliver your item at 1:04 pm on February 27, 2006 in MESQUITE, TX 75185 and a notice was left. It can be redelivered or picked up at the Post Office. If the item is unclaimed, it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

I thought I would have no problems sending this via certified mail. Has anybody else had this problem?

certified means some one has to sign for it or else pick from post office so that option is out

they shall try and redeliver i dont know how the USPS works i would suggest to find out with usps what they do in such instances

Well, I don't know about certified mail, but I do know that the service centers only check their mail about once a day, and I think it's early in the AM. They let all the notices gather for the day and then pick them up the next morning. So, just wait and see if it gets picked up tommorow, it should be, I got the same message and it was.

Why not just use priority mail with delivery confirmation? That way you get notified and noone has to sign for it.

With that said, I don't trust the status updates from USPS -- I recently sent a package to our attorney with delivery confirmation and when I checked the status it showed "Delivery Refused" and said the package would be returned to sender. I immediately called the attorney to find out that they had actually accepted the package. The status had been incorrectly enterred. I made an official complaint to the USPS and their response was to offer me a refund of the 50 cents for delivery confirmation -- big whoop.

From now on, it's FedEx for me.

I have always sent my papers certified with acknowledgment due - this way I get a card in the mail when its delivered and its signed (or stamped.) I have never checked the status online but I have never had a problem - the mail gets delivered within a day or two and the acknowledgment comes through within a week. I guess I am not as worried as others and have not checked the online statuses. But I give the certified mail with acknowledgment 'Two thumbs Up" and I use it for all important papers/checks etc. that I send by mail - not limited to immigration stuff. Good Luck

my fiance just sent the I-129F package through certified mail (at Mailboxes, etc.) and he said he didn't receive any sort of tracking number to track the package online. i was a bit peeved that he had sent it via certified mail, and not priority mail like i had asked him to do. he travels a lot for work, and since he will not always be home to receive mail (like the acknowledgment of the certified mail), i wanted to be able to check online if the CSC received our package or not.

is the tracking number on the receipt or something, and he just didn't look properly? or do you think we should try contacting Mailboxes, etc. for it?
