Hi!

I came here last year thru a K1 visa and got my green card last quarter of the year. My removal of conditions will be 2013. i am planning to apply for citizenship. How long should I wait to apply for the citizenship?

hi,

after removing conditions. you need to be married 3 years and 3 years of being a LPR.

Follow-up question to that, when will my count start? the time that I receive my greencard (which was October 2011) or time that I receive my new greencard after the removal of conditions (sometime 2013)?

From the date you become an LPR. That is October xx, 2011 based on your post. You will be able to apply for citizenship sometime in July 2014 if you are still married to the petitioning USC.

thank you! i am trying to plot the timeline and save money as well. so i guess my removal and USC application would just be a couple of months apart. a lot of saving to do!!!

A year apart in fact, as your ROC filing should be done at the most 90 days before your GC expiration date, which should be around July 2013.
