Cop accidently shoots suspect while holstering his gun

I thought my finger was off the trigger,” 30-year-old transit Officer José Joseph exclaimed to his partner, as suspect Richard Pearson, 47, writhed in pain from the wound in his right calf.

I'm continually amazed we allow cops to point guns at us on a daily basis. "Officer safety" is more important than our own rights. Simply amazing.

I haven't had a police officer point a gun at me. Not on a daily basis and not at any other frequency. In fact, no cop has ever pointed a gun at me. Then, of course, I ain't acting stupid around law enforcement officers either.

Never happened to me, either. In fact, I've never even seen a cop's gun out of its holster. I must live a sheltered life.

In some places it's standard practice for the police to pull weapons simply for a traffic stop. How that's acceptable to the public is beyond me.

I've been through 2 traffic stops over the last 16+ years that I've lived in the US. Both were my fault because I was speeding. But in neither case has there been any gun pulled on me. Officers were polite and professional. I think as long as one observes simple rules - pull over promptly as soon as it is safe to do so and keep your hands where the officer can see them - one would not be looking at the working end of an officer's gun.

in theory, that's the way it works.

sometimes, circumstances make things different. like if your vehicle matches the one seen pulling away from a bank robbery........

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

I was pulled over a few days ago. I knew why. I let my registration expire. The cop was very polite and courteous. And it struck me, the older I get the nicer cops get. I wonder if it's because my behavior has changed (probably) or cops are just d1cks to young men (probably) or both (yeah, I think so).

Well, that would be understandable. Then again, if you follow some simple rules and follow the officers commands, it would be cleared up quickly. And you'd probably get an apology for the mix up as well.
