Aside from the obvious (living with your fiance/spouse, meeting their family, etc), what are some little silly, trivial things that you're excited about your new life in the USA?

I'll start off:

- I'm excited to be able to enter contests that are only open to American residents!

I know what you're saying there. That's one of the things I've been looking forward to as well!

As well for me: Not having to plug my car in so it doesn't freeze in the winter, looking out the window and seeing palm trees!, having a garden in a much more plant friendly locale, cheap flights.

Downside: weird bugs in the south

Ohhh yeah, that's one of the things I'm terrified about. I've already seen one banana spider, and that's one too many for MY lifetime!!

Cheap flights are definitely a plus! Flying out of Pearson is horrible!

To be honest, I am scared to death !! I am a french canadian and going to the US where I would not be able to speak french freaks me out ! Also the healthcare system there gives me the creeps ! The only thing I am looking foward to is to finally be with my love and that is all that matters ! :D

Excited about not having seagulls around most of the time. :D

Also excited about eating ranier cherries, and that it's legal to turn right(mostly) when the light is red in an intersection.

Downside would be chiggers, those sneaky no-see-em critters. I didn't know that they existed until after I sat on a bank by the lake. Ouch x 50!

I'm excited about:

- starting my very first garden. Right now I live in an apartment and there's not enough space for a garden.

- visiting some art museums. I'm an art museum geek and Dimples promised to take me to some of the coolest art museums in the US.

- living in a smaller town, since all my life I've lived in a city and I've grown to hate big city living.

Im looking forward to looking for a job or going to college or both eventually.

Also looking forward to being able to have a car. My insurance quote in the UK was $4000 for the same car, over there the quote was $600

I'll start off:

- I'm excited to be able to enter contests that are only open to American residents!

Along the same notes; being able to view music video clips on Youtube. If I had a nickel for every time my American wife has sent me a Youtube link to a song she likes and I haven't been able to see it cause I'm all the way over here in Europe... that would have paid for all our USCIS/NVC expenses. :P

Hahaha, good point!!

We don't get that too much in Canada, via youtube... but I can never watch any comedy central or MTV clips!

Something that I am actually looking forward to is using my English skills. Even from when I first started learning English in school, it has always been one of my biggest talents (second only to my humbleness ;) ).

All kidding aside tho, if I got good grades, it was usually in English. And the thing is, I think every single person has been blessed with (at least) one talent. I always wondered why I was given the talent of having a knack for English. I'm not religious, but I figure this is why. So that I would be able to talk with the woman whom I am now happy to call my wife.

Noooooooo!!!!

Not. Funny.

LOL :P

My fiance teases me with stuff like that all the time. I tell him as long as he's around to kill them for me, then that's fine :hehe:
