Back to the original question...would anyone be considering Obama for president if he were white?

He's a great speaker with a lot of charisma. Two of our more recent presidents, Reagan and Clinton both possessed those qualities. I'm beginning to suspect that those two qualities have more to do with who gets elected. Kerry was a great speaker but not very charismatic. GW Bush can talk plain folk talk that chimed well with many Americans. My hunch is that the 2008 Presidential election will be won or lost based primarily on those qualities.

The American voter doesn't seem to care too much for career politicians - they called Kerry a Washington insider and GW was the homegrown outsider....cough... It's going to come down to charisma and how well they connect with the audience when they speak. Mark my words.

When I initially read the title, I thought Osama Bil Laden. So I was thinking that Majizee/Matako was at it again, which would have been hilarious, but this thread is legit. Anyway, no the American people are not quite ready for a "non-traditional" president. Besides, GaryC is correct. Osama's cousin, Obama, doesn't have political experience to have any hopes of acquiring the support required to be the next commander in chief.
