So in June we made the first step in the K1 process and sent off the I-129F. On our timeline it estimated a NOA2 by October 15, however I logged in today to check the forums and also checked our timeline out of curiosity and now it says November 25-30. What does it base this off and why is it estimating it to take over a month longer than it originally did?

It was actually quite sad to read, I pray it doesn't take that long, we're finding life really hard at the moment, just so desperate to be together.

It takes into account current processing times that members of VJ fill out. That is why it is important for members to accurately fill their timelines in a timely manner. It if just an estimate.

NOA1 2/8/12
RFE 8/2/12

NVC received 8/27/12
NVC left 8/29/12

Your timeline on Visa Journey is solely based off other member's timelines...meaning as they update their information, it will adjust accordingly. I'm not sure where your petition went (Vermont or California?), but if it's Vermont, they are averaging 6 months, CSC is a lot less. Maybe it will speed up, but I'm past 6 months already. Anyway, as members enter approvals, RFEs etc, you timeline range will update. It generally gives you a good idea, but in reality you may get it earlier, or later. There is no exact date that can be projected.

If I'm not mistaken, timeline estimates are based off of an average of the time it took OTHER visajourney.com members to get an NoA2 from the same service center (California or Vermont). Based on your numbers, I'm thinking yours may be Vermont because California estimates have been steadily going down (given that almost all reports from California on this site have been people receiving NoA2 faster and faster) whereas Vermont estimates seem to be going up.

It's not official data at all... Just an educated guess based on the experience of others (and it's not even a national average or anything, just based off people who are VJ members with their timelines filled out).

I looked at your timeline and it shows your paper work is being processed by Vermont. So be prepared to wait and wait and wait

I hope your ready for the long haul. I applied in December of 2011 and about 3 weeks ago was basically the point at which everything's was completed and sent to embassy. My time line was pretty consistant with the estimate time. After NVC sends the packet to embassy that time is only the variable period compared to other applicants. Should estimate about 10 to 11 months for complete process from application mailing to visa in hand.

Damn that's a shame, thanks for clearing it up but it sucks that we're likely not going to be together until well into the new year. When we filed we had optimistic hopes of being together for Christmas. Feel silly now. :[

Don't loose hope perhaps the USCIS might get impressed by the way you filled out your application or find that $100 dollars note you accidently placed between each sheet of application and it might get done in like a month. Who knows?

Btw if someone does that please let me know how it turns out.

Don't feel silly. There was a time when K1 visas could and did get processed in 6 months; although not the norm. But hey, it happened, and could happen again. Processing times change; they will speed up and then slow down. Hang in there, maybe you could hope to be approved and have your significant other here for Valentine's Day (L)

Dear you never know. You could be that special one that gets processed in 3 months or immediately. It happenes you will see people get approvals in a month without a DCF, expedite its lightening in a bottle. All you can do is prepare for the long term so when it comes earlier you are plesantly surprised.

When we filed in January, we were hoping to be together in July ( def feels silly now for us too) ...we got approved after 195 days and it looks like we will be together beginning of November :) the wait is long and hard since you can't plan anything but try to stay strong , it takes a lot of strength but you'll get there and this long wait will be well worth it at the end of this journey :) any questions or if you want to talk , just let me know :) It's a lovely community here and if not those people here, it would be hard to be stuck on my own :)
