So I think I have everything put together for my K1 visa application to be filed here in the US. At one time I found a site that gave me estimates of how long the four different places I could file would take but now I'm not finding it. Does anyone know what is currently the fastest place to file to start the K1 visa. I know I'm looking at 8 long months on the lucky side but hoping to cut down any unluckyness if possible.

Take a look at 'Guides' at the top of this page. The K1 Flowchart will give you all the information as to how to progress. You send your I-129F petition to the Dallas Lockbox as stated. They determine which office your file will go to. It depends on which state you are living in. K1's go to either the California or Vermont Office. You cannot choose.

If you complete your profile with location it makes it easier for other VJ members to assist you.

Best of luck !

(at present California is quicker, but it changes from time to time).

p.s. also check the K1 Visa Guide details to make sure you have everything you need included in your petition.

There are currently only two service centers adjudicating I-129F petitions -- Vermont and California. You don't get to choose which one gets your petition, however. Simply follow the I-129F instructions on where to send the petition package and then be prepared to wait.

You send your application to the Dallas Lockbox and then they forward it to a Service Center (based on the state you reside in) for processing. There is no way to speed up the processing time at the Service Center. You just have to wait it out. If you don’t get any RFEs, that will save you some time though. So be sure you send everything the first time and make sure you answer all of the questions on the application.

Here’s a step-by-step guide for the K1 visa:

Also, if you fill out your timeline once you file your application, then it will give you a timeframe based on other VJ members. Just remember, it is based solely on VJ members and is just an average. But, it does give you a good idea based on others around you doing the same thing.good.gif

Bear in mind that when I applied back in May, Vermont was the fastest service centre.

These things change quickly; don't get too concerned. :)

There is no guarantee that the fastest center now will be the fastest center in a few months. VSC was about 4 months when I filed and faster than CSC, and 2 weeks before my estimated processing date, they stopped focusing on K-1s.

Yeah I'm just going to send originals and get new originals when I'm in my home town in a month. They're pretty cheap doesn't make sense not doing it. Yeah I will have to learn patience with this process. Unfortunately it was far from planned so hopefully no pictures isn't going to kill it. I've got proof of being in Philippines and plent of conversations but I never thought I'd do a K1 visa and didn't bring a camera because I was unsure of how safe Philippines is. I have a letter stating I have no vacation time for first year at new job so hopefully all that together will suffice. Any teenager can photoshop a picture together, I think the picture thing is kind of lame personally. I went through a process like this with my ex but she was already living in the US, and I didn't really want to do it but wanted to stay in my step kids life as long as possible. Luckily with the new job I'm so busy time is flying, already waited 6 months for divorce wait period :( Thanks for the help everyone, mailing the first batch of ####### tomorrow.

Even USCIS states not to send originals unless specifically requested. They also say be prepared to show the documents if asked to do so.

Photos are considered secondary evidence to corroborate the primary evidence. In my opinion, conversations on email or chat is lame.

Just because you have proof of being in the Philippines doesn't prove you met face to face. I was in LA last year, so was Jennifer Lopez. We were there at the same time. But I didn't meet her face to face. Hence, the pictures would have proved that we indeed were face to face. My airline boarding pass and hotel receipts would have proved I was in LA.

I have a quick question for you since you mentioned the waiting for divorce. Was your divorce finalized prior to you having your face to face meeting with your current fiancé?

Yeah I understand that, but either way I have a letter from employer saying I'm unable to take vacation in the first year. So hopefully a little of both will come together and work. Yes I was still legally married when I met her. But I was there looking at opening up a call center, not there to meet a girlfriend or wife. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens at this point it's all in the mail now. Pictures also don't prove you have met someone face to face, I can put that picture of Jennifer Lopez and you together and you don't even have to be in LA together. Of course both of you will say you were together, but immigrations will not stamp your passport saying you've been somewhere when you have not. I'm sure there's a lot more photoshopped fraud now than ever. If there's one thing I know, there is no for sure right or wrong with this process. There's one person that decides, some people get asked tons of questions some none.
