hello everyone . i have applied N400 on the basis of marriage and my interview is on aug 15 2012

i have a question to all fellows that i have been doing job on cash( means i have always been paid

in cash and i dont have any W-2's) for the last 3 years but i have reported my cash income to

IRS on tax filing for the last three years and have filed the returns. In the N-400 application i have mentioned that i am

working and have given the name of the employer where i had been working .

My concern is that in the N400 interview am i going to get any trouble because of doing the job on cash ?

what if the IO asks me about my employment, what should i say ? i have already wrote the name of the employers

with whom i have been working on cash jobs for the past three years .

I am very worried for what i should answer the IO if he asks me to show the W-2's ?

any help regarding this will be highly appreciated !

thanks alot

Not everyone has W-2 just to let you know. business people don't have W-2, self-employ don't have W-2.

W-2 is issued to employee and used to report tax, which produce tax transcript. I am not saying what you are worrying is no-sense. If you take the time to think a bit, all start to make sense.

Yes, I agree with that.

your tax transcripts is what they usually ask for, I did not hear of anyone having issues because they do not have their W2, worest case scenario is if he/she asked about the W2 , you can say that you are getting paid in cash, no W2 , and here is my transcripts that I paid my taxes period.

Do not worry :)

If you have your IRS transcripts they really are not going to ask for anything further. If you did happen to have them, they would reflect what you reported on your taxes. It's kind of like asking for the deposit slip for the money which is already in your back account....see what I mean? The transcripts are valid proof and as someone else noted, not every person who is employed has a W2 to start with. the IRS assesses whether you have paid your taxes properly not USCIS.

USCIS is not the IRS. If you've been paying taxes and can supply proof then it ought to be ok.

Off topic: What could be bad for you is if this job ends and you need to collect unemployment. The employer isn't paying in for you, so you won't be able to collect. It also has other potential impacts such as Social Security benefits. But not immigration related.

Very valid and good points to consider.... SS and unemploymrnt benefits are something to consider.. Workman's comp is another thing if you got injured on the job... W-2 is not an issue for the interview, you have given employer info and will have tax transcripts, you should be good to gothere...
