I have been hearing that there are some of these "quick visa" scamming companies working the boards. I guess business is slow ant they are actively contacting VJ members to help process their applications. YOU DON'T NEED THEM! Everything you need to do can be found right here, especially help and support from those of us that are going through the process. I was told that one company was trying to charge the couple $1200 to file the initial I129 forms .... what a JOKE!

Be Careful ... Be very careful ... They cannot RUSH the process for you - it is impossible!!

Yeah, it is sad that this is what it has come down to. Crappy lawyers advertising for work. So much are the days of ambulance chasers, now they are stalking internet users.

We don't need these people to file applications for us that is for sure. But, with the promise of faster, someone will believe them and be taken for a ride, minus some $$$$. :bonk:

Moved from K1 Process & Procedures to Off Topic; topic is about solicitation by attorneys and not about a specific immigration process.

Our journey:

Spoiler

September 2007: Met online via social networking site (MySpace); began exchanging messages.
March 26, 2009: We become a couple!
September 10, 2009: Arrived for first meeting in-person!
June 17, 2010: Arrived for second in-person meeting and start of travel together to other areas of China!
June 21, 2010: Engaged!!!
September 1, 2010: Switched course from K1 to CR-1
December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!
February 9, 2011: Depart for China
February 11, 2011: Registered for marriage in Wuhan, officially married!!!
February 18, 2011: Wedding ceremony in Shiyan!!!
April 22, 2011: Mailed I-130 to Chicago
April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)
April 29, 2011: Updated
May 3, 2011: Received NOA1 hardcopy in mail
July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)
October 6, 2011: Case complete at NVC
November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!
December 7, 2011: POE - Sea-Tac Airport

September 17, 2013: Mailed I-751 to CSC

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

I've always wondered about this. Ads on the top of every page for Immigration Attorneys. For VJ Members the (TOS) Terms of Service Agreement FORBIDS any form of Advertisement.... But, yet it is on every page. (Just look at the top of this page?) It does'nt really bother me, VJ has to make money too. I doubt those ads are free... :devil: If you think This website pays for itself and asks no money? Then, the money comes from somewhere. Where? Ads. Thats where...

I doubt the OP can answer that as his post is speculation based on what he has "been hearing".

Question: Why and How did those Ads appear at the top of the page.

Maybe Ewok or a Organizer can answer. If they were not wanted they could be blocked. They are there for Money purposes as I see it from Marketers and Advertisors. VJ is like any Website. Spots are Sold and Potential Clients. Only Ewok can Answer this really.

WHY IS IT A (TOS) Violation for Ads from Members but not on VJ's Own Homepages ???? Just Courious?

It comes from "hits". So, every time you click one of those ads, the site can make half a cent, or even more!

Question: Why and How did those Ads appear at the top of the page.

You can change your ad preferences with Google Ad Sense to get different ads.

while i'm not ewok or an organizer, i'll take a shot at it.

ads from members provide financial benefit to the member, which is against the vj tos.

ads on vj are generated by google ads and provide revenue to the site, which helps keep this site running.

I'll agree with that. It's takes Money to run a Site. Just a VJ Member can't unless "They pay a Fee".... LOL. But, I assumed this was it Charles and makes good financial sense to me.
