I'm planning to go to Ethiopia once we get my husbands interview date, but my question is regarding my current passport, it doesn't expire for another few years, but it's in my maiden name...I haven't changed my passport to my married name because I have supporting documents (if needed) to show ie: birth certificate etc. will this be an issue at the POE once my husbands approved after his interview and we travel back to the U.S.?

Nope you have all your ID and you said birth certificate. My passport expired last year when I was in Nigeria. I had to go to embassy got an emergency passport. Well the passport is in my new married name and my ticket was in my maiden name. No issue.

Thank you for the info..I was thinking to change it, but even to do that here in Seattle, is such a pain, and cost more than what I expected just for a name change, but it doesn't expire for a few more years, so thanks again!!

Usually not. Name changes with marriage are completely optional.
