I Called USCIS this morning to check on the status of my AOS using 1-800-375-5283 Then hit 1,2,2,4,2,1

I was advised that the Dallas Office is currently Processing December 2nd 2011. My Application was received December 21st 2011, and that I should expect to hear in the next 30 days.

Fingers crossed.

Its amazing, but apparently Dallas USCIS are still processing December 2nd 2011 according to the information line.

It's because they update the processing times once a month, or even longer than that. The processing time for my local office did not move for 2 months.

However since your case was transferred to CSC, in reality your local office has nothing to do with your actual processing time. CSC is currently taking 8 months or more from the date of application. They give themselves 6 months from the date the case was received at CSC to process your case. If your case was transferred on February 1st, it was probably received around a week later (you should have got a notification showing date received by CSC). Then add 6 months to that date to get your expected processing date.

I'll save you the 15 day wait, you'll get this from them. Its the same thing they've been sending everyone for the past couple months.

Thanks Caryh, you are correct, received that email this morning. One thing it did clear up was where the application was. I was told it was back with the local office in Dallas, but according to the email its with the CSC. Good to know where it is, so just wait and see

What is annoying is that a friend of mine, moved to the US around the same time as me, bypassing applying for K1, got married on the same day as me, applied for AOS same time, but got his Green card three months ago. Though I'm glad we went the legal route, it does make you think if you would recommend it for others.

Thanks

Many of the customer service people think all AOS cases are at the local. I even had one tell me all AOS cases go to California, then go to the local. The customer service people are a third party company and poorly trained. If you got the letter saying your case was transfered to CSC, its at CSC unless you get another letter stating it was transfered back the local office for an interview. Its not common, but it happens. I was aware of the benefits and negatives of the K-1 route. Had I the vacation time and extra money for another trip, I would have gone the CR-1 route. There's no way my wife would ever have gotten a visitor's visa to the USA, being she's from the Philippines. I actually would have loved to have her visit here a time or two before she moved here. She would have been better prepared for what she faced, or maybe totally scared off

You must be really frustrated. It's awful having to wait for everything in this process. Even more so when you know other applications, for whatever reason, are processed more timely.

You can just move here and get married legally?

Of course you can come and get married. But coming here with the intention of getting married and staying without the proper visa is not allowed. But many just say they were visiting and decided to get married, and then adjust status.

Looking back now, I would have done things differently, When I proposed I was in Dallas, and we could have got married and then filed. At that stage, I had no job to go back to, as I had finished a contract before flying over. Doing that would have saved us 10 months of being apart, and by now, we would have the greencard and be closer to Removal of Conditions.

But everything happens for a reason, hopefully it wont take much longer :-)
