Received actual green card yesterday 2/21/2013, residence since 8/27/2010. With this, we can apply N400 US Citizenship on 5/29/2013, right? But we've been out of the country last dec 2012 from Dec 16 - 25. I know that we have to follow the 3 year rule for applying US citizenship, right? What docs we need? Is it better to have the tax transcripts or tax returns for the last three years? If tax transcripts are better, how to avail them?

We just got an RFE dated 2/19/2013, and all the stuff they're asking for that we can actually provide was already submitted with the application. Things we can't provide would be a lease or mortage with her name because I bought the house before we met. We have no joint credit cards but we have joint bank accounts and we provided original letters from the credit unions (two of them) attesting to that fact. I provided medical, life and car insurance documents, I provided copies of actual tax forms, I provided affidavits. What the hell? <sigh>

Anyone else have this experience? How did you handle it?

07/19/2003 - Met here in the US and just clicked

05/2004 through 08/2009 - many trips back and forth by both of us, phone calls, care packages, etc.

02/14/2008 - Engaged (she was here in the US for Valentines Day so I figured make it official :))

11/21/2009 - Married with a few friends and some family in attendence.

CR1 Timeline:

01/12/2010 - I-130 Packet Sent

08/30/2010 - Interview completed, visa granted.

08/31/2010 - Visa in hand!

09/07/2010 - Arriving Seattle.

09/17/2010 - Received SSN.

10/01/2010 - Received green card.

Removal of Conditions:

06/06/2012 - Mailed I-751

06/12/2012 - Got back I-751 as "too early"

06/13/2012 - Re-mailed I-751

06/18/2012 - NOA1

07/13/2012 - Biometrics Appointment letter received (scheduled for 08/06/2012)

08/06/2012 - Biometrics completed.

Nice to see some VSC filers getting approved. Though it's a little disheartening that people who filed after me are getting approved. I get there is never any rhyme or reason on how USCIS does things, I see people that filed in May are still waiting. Doesn't make any sense. Congratulations to everyone approved so far! Crossing my fingers I hear something soon, I haven't had any RFE's which I guess is a good sign.

Yes, filed June 12, 2012. I kept it sweet and simple. No photos or affidivats. Just quality paper work showing "co-mingle".

Funny the card arrived before the letter.

The Text messages keep coming from USCIS alerting me to check my status online. They started texting from 02-21, but Found this other message: "On February 25, 2013, we mailed the new card directly to the address we have on file. You should receive your new card within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283."

Eligible to file for N400 on 04-16-13. See you guys over there, and good luck to other I-751 filers!!!!!

Received actual green card yesterday 2/21/2013, residence since 8/27/2010. With this, we can apply N400 US Citizenship on 5/29/2013, right? But we've been out of the country last dec 2012 from Dec 16 - 25. I know that we have to follow the 3 year rule for applying US citizenship, right? What docs we need? Is it better to have the tax transcripts or tax returns for the last three years? If tax transcripts are better, how to avail them?

According to this link, 5/29/2013 is correct.

If you're filing N400 based on marriage then yes, you'd have to follow the 3 year rule. On Part 7 of application, you'd have to record total # of days spent outside of U.S. during last 5 years. SEE PAGE 3-4 of sect. 7 here: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/n-400instr.pdf

Documents needed: 2 passport photographs, front and back of valid greencard. Other document requirements can be found here on this document check list http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/attachments.pdf

Better to have tax transcripts for the last three years in my opinion. or have your tax forms certified. as per the document check list. http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/attachments.pdf
