My boyfriend and I are in a constant struggle about this. I switch it when I'm visiting him because it skeeves me to see it under. I can only imagine what things will be like when we move in together later this year. War!

Or house rule - whoever changes it gets to choose. In fact that's probably why I can't think what my husband does as I'm not sure I've witnessed it in the last three years.

Yeah - you probably need a third 'other' option in the poll!

And here is an alternative holder where over or under is irrelevant.

I sometimes leave the roll on top when I have to get a new roll and I'm too lazy to put it on the holder. This only becomes a problem when himself comes over and decides to put the roll on the holder, and in doing so puts it on the holder incorrectly. Then I have to take it off the holder and put it on correctly.

Separate bathrooms is the only way forward.
