I can honestly say that I don't know how we would have navigated this process without Visa Journey (and in my case, Saylin in particular :star: ). Being able to find information via the wiki's, seeing examples of filled forms & templates, checklists of what we need to include at every step, etc., has been absolutely invaluable to us. Maybe your wife should check it out and see for herself? :)

I've tried to but unfortunately she doesn't have the same faith in this board as I do. I try to pass information along though.

It took about 10 months to bring my spouse to US !

Without VJ, it would definitely have been lot longer wait, confusing, stressful, and MESSY !

Not a single doubt in our mind that We owe all our success to VJ !

Customs Declaration form on the plane

CMP 6059B Form 1) Family Name

Passport: wife's maiden name

Visa: My Last name

OK, I just called (2) different U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency's in Atlanta, Ga and Dallas, TX because our P.O.E. LAX is closed, I asked them:

"What do my wife put as her last name on Question#1 on the form?"

a) name on passport (maiden) OR

Well, usually, the visa comes in the name of the passport. I've never heard of a case where it came in different names.

I would suggest in your case for your wife to leave that question blank and just ask the border officer once she gets to customs. They'll tell her what to write.

Wanted to take the time out to thank everyone here on VJ, especially Saylin, for the invaluable advice and support you all have given me. It's a week since I got to LA. I'm so happy to finally be reunited with my husband. Thank you everyone, and for all those waiting for approvals/interviews/NOA2s, it's worth the wait. There definitely is light at the end of the tunnel, and all it takes is the will to go on, no matter how excruciatingly painful each day is.

Thank you!!!

I'd say skip calling, I'm sure everyone's going to give you a different answer. Just have your wife wait until she's at customs and ask how to answer that question. This would be the best (and perhaps only) option in her case.

I never changed my name, so all my documents are still in my maiden name. We filled out the paperwork in my maiden name. And so, my visa (and later, green card) came in my maiden name. When I was first denied at the airport, the immigration officer suggested I do this to make it easier. So I did.
