To hear the supporters of Trayvon Maritn and other "civil rights" groups describe it, Chicago would be the safest place for young black males. With a ban on concealed carry and no "stand your ground" law, Illinois (the ONLY state that does not allow concealed carry in one form or another) and Chicago with the most restrictive ownership laws in the country...ought to be virtually crime free.

Wrong.

So far this year, through March, 120 homicides have been committed in Chicago alone, a 60% increase over last year. Where is a safer place for young black men? Florida!

Unfortunately for you, Gary, the city of St. Pete shatters your delusion that more guns on the streets and stand your ground laws make neighborhoods safer. St. Pete saw it's homicides double last year and is on track to see double digit increases in homicides again this year.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

No, I'm just questioning the wisdom of having a situation where there are more guns than people in this country. It's quite easy to see that the more guns there are out there and the easier the access to them is, the more criminals will have guns.

Start shooting criminals with guns and you will have less criminals with guns. A criminal will think twice when he/she knows that their intended victim is armed and will legally protect themselves with a gun. It's how the West was won.

It really falls short on you that criminals will be criminals with or without guns.

A 5'2" 105 lb female can even up out the odds of survival when facing a 6'0' dirt bag that is determined

to make her a victim.

If you are in a room with 100 people and each has a gun, be my guess in guessing who will be the first one to die... all about game theory here.

less guns only protect the cops because they will be the only one with guns. just be aware demolishing gun rights may trigger a prohibition like event - soon criminals will custom make assault rifles.

if you think 911 is just dramatic you see on tv.. you will be wrong and i learned it the hard way. in new york city 911, some neighborhoods will send the police first then the ambulance. if you live in a high tax area like manhattan, your city services will get superb response. but if you are the average joe income, good f*ing luck in the city saving your rear!

Sorry to jump in.... People look at the little picture on this subject. Gun control is so much bigger than just you or me or Jimmy having a gun. Look having arms legal in our country provides two forms of defense:

1. The Government MUST fear the people. The people are armed and can fight back. We can have an uprising if the Government gets out of control. Having guns keeps our Government from an extremist takeover.

2. It deters other countries from attacking our mainland. As a Japanese WW2 General said after the war... the reason he didn't attack the mainland is because there would be a gun behind every bush. That's very true. To take over the United States it would be hard because we can arm every single individual 10 times. You would have to send millions of troops to take over this very large, armed nation, although with the way our country is today, I honestly think most would surrender. We lost our courage in the 90's I think.

Look at a country like Mexico - where I currently live. Guns are ILLEGAL. Who has the arms? The cartels and the Government. The people have nothing to defend themselves and therefore are at the whim of both corrupt groups. Do you think if the people had the arms to fight back the country would be like this? Gun control is about control. The party who has guns has control.

I don't see Big Dog advocating gun control, but pointing out the logical fallacy of more guns, less crime.

The fallacy only exist between the ears if liberals that refuse to get it.
