Note: After speaking to the embassy just a few moments ago, I've learned that the VISA fees are changing. It sounds like Tourist/Work VISAs are going up - but K Visas are going DOWN. Currently, one website reflects a price of $350. However, there's an announcement at http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3023.html reflecting a new cost of $240.

Yes the K-1 visa prices went down for all countries.

Sent I-129 Application to VSC 2/1/12
NOA1 2/8/12
RFE 8/2/12
RFE reply 8/3/12

That is excellent news! This, with the not so recent I-129F fee decrease, equals savings and a good time to file.

I should have waited a while to pay for the Visa, I may have been eligible for the $240. I wonder if I can get a refund on the difference since we only paid a week ago.

Nope, no refund. You paid the fee that was effective at that time.

NVC [*] 14 May 2012 - Petition received by NVC ; [*] 16 May 2012 - Petition left NVC.

EMBASSY [*] 18 May 2012 - Petition arrived at the US Embassy in Bucharest; [*] 22 May 2012 - Package 3 received; [*] 24 May 2012 - Package sent to the consulate, interview date set; [*] 14 June 2012 - Interview date, approved.

10/01/11 - Filed (2) I-130's

10/04/11 - NOA-1

04/05/12 - NOA-2

Your I-130 was approved in 184 days from your NOA1 date.

NVC

04/23/12 - NVC received both cases (18 days/12 business days from NOA-2)

05/07/12 - Case numbers and IIN's (14 days/10 business days since NVC received)

05/07/12 - Sent out DS-3032 by email; auto-response received

05/08/12 - AOS fee invoiced, paid - "IN PROCESS"

05/09/12 - AOS fee shows as "PAID"

05/10/12 - Spouse's DS-3032 accepted; minor child's rejected = had petitioner call NVC = received verbal acceptance from operator

05/11/12 - Spouse's IV fee invoiced

05/14/12 - Daughter's IV fee invoiced, paid both IV fees - "IN PROCESS"

05/15/12 - Both IV fees show as "PAID"

Actually, there was a mistake on the embassy's side (from what I can tell - I'm pretty sure I did everything right) and had we not run into it, we'd have paid the additional amount 2 weeks ago as well. My guess is that they didn't give the information to the staff, they didn't give the information to the banks (where we pay the fees) or both. In my case, it's times three so it'll really help. But my impression would be that there won't be any refunds - the price you paid was the price that day. :/

Also.. good to know that it's worldwide - I wasn't aware of that fact at the time. Glad to hear it. :)

I thought I read the new visa fee won't take effect until the 13th of April. I was just on the Manila embassy website and they still list $350 for K visas so until the new fee is posted $350 is the amount. If the 13th is the day I am betting come midnight the website will be updated...
