Hi everybody,

I'm currently in the process of petitioning for a K-1 Visa (form I-129F and G325A). Per form I-129F, I am to fill out the G-325A form and so is my fiance. I noticed that the G-325A form has a line for a signature at the bottom, and my understanding is that I am to sign (in ink) the G-325A, and my fiance will sign the G-325A form she fills out.

My fiance is currently in Guatemala (her home country) and so we looked at how long and how much it would cost to have her send me her signed G-325A form (depending on time, it could take 7 days @ $100+ through a UPS service and about 14 days through national mail @ $40, give or take). I setup a meeting time with USCIS and asked them if my fiance was to fill out and sign her G-325A form, or if she could sign it and email me the scanned copy. The USCIS employee stated that the non-U.S. citizen did NOT have to send the original copy, nor did the non-U.S. citizen need to sign her copy; she can just fill out the form and email me the pdf document when complete, with no signature.

So here is my question, is the USCIS employee I spoke with correct? It conflicts with what I have read on this site and how I interpret the G-325A form. If someone knows what needs to be done, I would greatly appreciate feedback. Thank you.

The instructions for the I-129f state they want the form signed and dated. Follow the instructions.

The I-129F is only signed by the USC/petitioner. The question is more focused on the G-325.

The letter of intent from your fiancé(e) will have to be an original version with an ink signature, so if they're sending you that via mail (along with passport-size photos if you don't have them already), adding the G-325 to that stack shouldn't be much of an issue.

I know that. The link is to the I-129F INSTRUCTIONS which REQUIRES the G-325A and states the requirement that it (G-325A) be signed and dated. Little quick with the trigger huh?

The OP asked if the signed and dated copy has to be an original. As others have pointed out, they have had their fiancé(e) sign and date the document, scan it and send it to them via email for the petition filing. That is what the OP is asking. Signed and dated != original ink copy.

Please re-read what I wrote:

Your original reply to me infers that I was making comment about the I-129F, which i was not.

I read the OP posting and provided a link to the INSTRUCTIONS for submitting the I-129F which is where the G-325A is listed as a required ADDITIONAL form, and it states - a signed and dated form, it does not state a COPY. If someone got a copy accepted all the power to them, but THAT is not what the instructions state so I will not give that advice.

You want to give advice on hearsay have at it.... but I wouldn't recommend anyone to follow that advice.

OP, I don't advise you to send a form with a scanned signature, unless you want to take a risk to have a RFE and delay your journey.

As LeftCoastLady mentioned, she will have to send you her fiancee a letter of intent and ability to marry dated and signed, plus passport pictures.

Even if she could potentially send you by email her passport pictures and have you print them in the US, I don't advise you again to send a scanned copy (with scanned signature so) to her letter of intent. If she wants to have minimal shipping costs, just have her mail you all the documents which required her signature.

Thank you everybody for your responses, it was very helpful on how I should proceed. I think I will have my girl mail me the original documents, signed and dated where necessary, just so I minimize the possibility of delaying this process. Thanks again.

Hi there,

I've been researching for someone who did what I did :) Thank god I found you and you didn't mentioned getting an RFE for scanned documents. I printed out G-325A form after I filled them up on my computer, printed it , signed it, scanned it and then sent it to my fiance's email. I also copied a sample letter of intent to marry online, I just changed the date, and names on it, printed it, signed it and scanned it and send it to my fiance's email too.

Also, I had my picture taken at a photo studio at the mall, then have it scanned and sent it to my fiance's email... He printed those 3 and sent them together with I-129F and other docs.

I want to ask if you did the same thing with those 3 that I mentioned? I've been worried since I am getting replies that I will be lucky to get away with it. But getting the correct info from someone who did the same thing, will definitely release me from the stress that's been hunting me.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

If i'm a US Citizen and was born in Thai, what should I put down on the form G-325A, on the first page on the first line where its ask about Citizenship/Nationality? Do I just put down USA/Thai or just USA or just Thai?

Another question where its list File Number after Citizenship/Nationality, what do I put down? Do I just put down my Alien Registration Number? But I'm a US Citizen, where do I go to look for that Alien Registration Number to fill it in? Or I don't need to fill it in b/c i'm a US Citizenship?

Please help me out with this, thank you to all first!!!

You are a US citizen, as you need to be in order to file an I-129F petition. Your citizenship is USA. You can leave the A# blank.

Thank you KayDeeCee for helping me out!!!

I have another question to ask. On the Fiancé Letter of Intent, do I need to put down the address where it will be sent or I don't have to put down the address? And if I have to put down the address, I live in Texas, I don't know which one to put down or sent to because there is two of it. Which one is the right one to use to put down on the Letter of Intent and for filing? Please help? Thank you.

Put the address you send the I-129F petition to, OR put no addresses at all. They are not a requirement.

These samples work perfectly >
