Hello everybody,

I am just joining the April aos filer group today. I sent everything on April 20. I had a K1 visa. I received Ead but since my case was transferred to CSC on May 9, I didn't receive any further notice. I did my biometrics in May too. I am still wondering at which point I should start worrying. I guess it is just very long and there isn't much I can do but be patient.

Congratulations to all of the April AOS filers who got approved!

Enjoy your weekend!

K-1 AoS are often transferred to the CSC. This usually means that it will take longer (regularly over six months, sometimes approaching a year) but you will probably not have an interview, your green card will just appear in the mail.

Your case may be transferred back from CSC to your local office at some point, which means you will probably have an interview. It seems to be a 50-50 chance which one will happen to you in a K-1 AoS.

What's new is that I today received a reply from the DHS Ombudsman telling me that they cannot assist in my case. They say that my I-360 was correctly transferred to VSC and I will have to wait until it is adjudicated there and there is nothing that can be done at this time.

So my green card won't be approved until the middle of next year at the earliest.

I have a couple of irons in the fire but at this point I don't hold out much hope that anything will come of them, they are long shots at best.

Such is life.

For various reasons I have not yet been able to go and apply for my own SSN. I really need to go and do it, but a couple of other things got in the way.

Soon™ hopefully.

Glad to hear they did it quickly for you though. That gives me hope.

I agree with you, Shooli. I sent my application early April - received April 6!! I did my biometrics on my appointment day on May 15. I just got an RFE from the NBC in Missouri!! It hasn't even been moved to the local office!! I don't think there is any streamlining or methodology at all. I thought that the problem was the local office. But it's the NBC!

Today I am sitting here quite ticked off... yesterday a bunch of illegals got their 'dream package' for much cheaper than I am able to get me and much quicker... considering that I've been married to DH for 16 years, and have been in and out of this country countless times, been filing tax returns jointly with my hubby for 16 years and have 2 kids that are American citizens, I really feel like an exiled US Citizen - all the responsibility without any of the benefits... and the bloody USCIS is baulking at my file while it's allowing countless others (who should be deported) to just waltz in and get their status within a month.

There. I said. I finally exploded!! Been trying to be patient and keep my cool. But this is just ridiculous!

im very dissapointed to know that there are immigrantsin this country, who are or were illegal likeyou, and still discriminate against other defenselessillegal immigrants such as those dreamers who unfortunatelywe're brought here by their parents and never had thechance to adjust status through a USC husband/wifelike we did! Who do you think you are to be judging other peoplesaying they should be deported? You were illegal oncehun, remember? Don't blame those people for USCIS'slaziness!

Have a heart, and think before you say something like that!

Mariana, I think you are mistaken. I have never ever entered the US illegally!! When I did make a mistake (ie. stay overseas too long), I took the consequence that the then INS meted out on me.

When I wrote this post, I was extremely frustrated that the legal process of legal immigrants would be held up by the 'dreamers'. I do believe that illegal immigrants should have consequences, even if they were brought here by older relatives (I actually had a friend that this happened to... she was excluded from entering the US for 10 years. Long story, but in the end a friend petitioned for her to be able to return for her wedding, and the USCIS revoked the exclusion so she could attend the wedding - so there are ways around it. It's not the end of the world).

As it is, I did contact someone in the USCIS to get clarity about the dreamers, and he explained that they simply got work permits or student visas, but they don't have resident status, nor can they adjust their status without leaving the country. Their applications also would not cause a backlog for those who have already filed. This put my mind more at ease. People who have entered illegally should not be able to get residency that easily! Especially when people who have gone the legal route are being put through their paces to prove they have legal grounds to be here. The 'Dreamers' are not refugees. And don't believe that (the majority of) their families were ignorant to the illegal nature of their continued presence in the US. I think on the most part, their actions were calculated, because there are many loopholes that allow illegals to stay and even adjust status.

Like I said, not everyone had the chance you did, like having your husband bring you here to marry him and

adjust status, and like you said those students are not getting any benefit other than a work permit and a SSN number, which is good for them to contribute to this country and pay their taxes obviously. Again, you should be careful with what yoy say here, as you may hurt other people's feelings. I came in on the Visa.Waiver Program, to tell you the truth when my parents brought me here I didn't even know what immigration was, or it's laws, all I knew was that I was happier, and had the chance to have things I would've never had in my country, and I thank them for bringing me here to have that chance, and today Im in very good University, as if I was in Portugal I would've been protesting in the middle of the street for a job, because it is a chaos over there! So I do thank my parents for coming here and giving me and my brothers a better life!

Today I thank my husband who married me and helped me to start adjusting my status, and thank God I can, instead of beung deported like you said we should be! And I thank God for the Deferred Action for the children, which was the only way for my brothers to work peacefully and contribute to thus country without the fear of being deported!

Thank you for your kind words. I'm also very happy for the Dreamers and some of them don't even know what is being illegal. I just had to explain to my niece why my brother was killed after being deported. he had entered illegally when he was a child and was deported to a country he wasn't familiar with. People should really be carefull on what they say here (It's not good to wish bad for others when the bad is happening to you. :bonk: ). If my brother had not been deported for working and living illegally he would be alive today...

Hope she is not deported in 21 days! :wow:
