Butter Cups

Well Alexis is 9 1/2 months now and I have been calling her my little butter cup.

This started when she was born, her checks were all rosie and her little chin had a little spot like someone was holding a butter cup under her chin. You know like we did as kids saying do you like butter and then put a buttercup to shine yellow on your chin. (Hopefully some one on here knows what I'm talking about)

Anyways, I've been calling her that and telling ppl cause when she was born she had that spot on her chin. I had no idea ppl here had no clue what I was talking about. I did even know butter cups didn't grow here. My husband thought I was weird calling daffodils butter cups :bonk: Well I had to google buttercups for my Husband and father in law to show them what a butter cup was.

So it looks like I'm going to have to teach my daughter how to play with buttercups when we go back up to Canada. After all this time I still have no clue what is normal here and what is not.

We had buttercups all over when I was little. Must be a regional thing. They were my favorite... the reason I clicked on this post :)

Hahahahaha

I remember butter cups!! We definitely have them in Florida... but I think we used to put the pollen on our noses. Maybe it was the chin?!

Wow, that brought back memories from loooooooong ago.

Thanks!

Years ago when I was little, there were no houses across from my house, just an empty field (we called it the meadow for some reason lol). It was full of buttercups and honeysuckles!

If they have them in Canada, down to Virginia, down to Florida, are you sure they aren't in TN Ontarkie? Maybe it's just because you asked men or their family is not interested in foliage so they were confused? :)

Wow Alexis is already easy 9 1/2? Time flies!

My mom used to do the buttercup under the chin when I was young. I haven't seen them here either... maybe I just havent been paying enough attention.

In the theme of funny nicknames, bill and I call our bun in the oven Timbit

No, there are no buttercups in TN. I grew up in Maryland and we did the chin thing too! I was telling my kids about it, and they had no clue what a buttercup looked like, they knew it was a flower.
