i thought Jesus (pbuh) was against of money changers and charging $$ in the name of God

Does God Want You To Be Rich?

Thanks for posting that. I hadn't seen it. I'm still reading but wanted to post this from the first page of the article:

"It is one of the New Testament's hardest teachings, yet generations of churchgoers have understood that being Christian, on some level, means being ready to sacrifice--money, autonomy or even their lives."

That is very true and I do not like the new movement in churches where it's all about being prosperous. My church is similar in fundamental beleifs as these churches, but we do not focus on prosperity constantly like many churches do, sadly. In fact, our church is always trying to talk about it to get people to stop focusing on material prosperity. It's a struggle now in American churches of who will end up making it all about money and who will stick to the Gospel.

It's very very disheartening to me.

I'm not saying that those churches do nothing good. I'm sure they do, but the message is being focused on one area.

IMO, God calls everyone to their own specific plan for life. Some are rich, some are poor, in order to show God's love to whoever they are around, rich or poor. We aren't supposed to be cookie cutters of eachother. We aren't all supposed to be rich, otherwise who would be willing to live poor, to be able to know poor people who need help. There's too much emphasis on material prosperity in some of these churches. "Well if you're poor, you must not know God well..or you didn't give into our ministry." "Oh you're rich, you must have been blessed because you gave xxx amount to our ministry!".

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I'll second that

Its not "who ever has the most toys wins". You can't take it with you. I thought the point of the Christian religion was not financial prosperity, but spiritual prosperity. I seriously think that Jesus would be very upset if he read that article, or knew what Bob & Bobby where thinking about. Sure, God helps those who help themselves, but is bilking people out of $10 of their hard earned money to see a bad paint job what he meant?

But come the rapture rich Pastor man, can I have your BMW? ;) Cuz ya just know I ain't goin!

I just don't understand prospering from something like this, or even considering it. They should just share it for for the sake of sharing.
