You are required to have an EAD or GC to work, as well as the SSN.

You cannot work without an EAD or GC it is ILLEGAL.

You can't work until you get an EAD card. Along with the AOS, you file I-765 for employment authorization. Takes about 3 months and you'll get a work permit. You cannot work until you get this.

HI. After 10 days you can go to your local Social Security Office to apply for a card. Before your I-94 expires you can open a joint checking account, it's easier that way,we went through a mess with the banks becuz my I-94 had expired. Congratulations on the Wedding and Welcome to America :)

We went after 7 days and they ask us to return on the 10th day, they said it took that long to be in the system . My husband took his Passport ( which includes the visa & I-94 in it) and the translated Birth Certificate as ID.

Making an appointment will get you in faster. We sat there 30 minutes before our number was called. My husband got his SS Card before we were married. Good Luck :)
