Is true that as soon as you received the NOA2 approval you could just bring that approval to the embassy to use it for the interview instead of waiting for them to send it to the embassy?? A friend of mine told me this as soon as his sister got the approval her sister when to her fiancé country and they when both in the embassy and use that NOA2 for the interview. Is that possible? I mean if she did it just means it is possible lol usually it take about 2 months before the embassy received the approval why wait if ever right?

The longer it takes to happen the more you'll appreciate it when it does!

THere is no such thing, the term NOA2 only exists on this website.

If your talking about the USCIS approval of the Petition I would say no. The processing of the petition has not been accomplished at the Dept of State, and has no DoS tracking number that could be used.

No, it's not true.

Your friend is wrong. Either USCIS or the NVC will have the case once the NOA2 is issued. The US Embassy will not have any records, so how is the US Embassy going to act?

Ok, don't listen to us. Go ahead and show them a DHS I-797 with no DoS Tracking number or casefile. When they laugh you can explain that it worked for his sister.

Nothing personal at all! :innocent:

Did you just want us to tell you want you wanted to hear, or did you want the truth? Your friend is wrong and we are trying to help you from wasting time on your case.

Look at it this way. Suppose that the Manila consulate said OK after seeing the I-797 and scheduled your interview, and then your interview day comes and the file hasn't arrived yet. This is why they (DoS) can't take any action untill the file is at least in their system.

i heard that after the nvc gets the file and sends it on to the embassy but before you receive writen conformation of the embassy receiving it that you can start the process by calling for your mnl number from the nvc and using it to do your online paper work like the156 k156 157 but so far that is all i herard was wondering if that where true because it wont be long and i will be going through this as well anyone out there know

Please remember that the I-129F is not a visa.

It's a petition for someone so that this person can file FOR a visa in their respective country. All the NOA2 / I-797 is a notice of approval.

After approval the case is sent to the National Visa Center where it is assigned a processing number. With that processing number, you can book things like your medical, however it is only when you receive packet three and send packet four that you begin the process of applying for the visa.

This is why there are two fees. One for the I-129F petition, and another when the beneficiary books their appointment with the consulate and they have to pay for the visa

Certain people have done this yes. You can call NVC for your numbers to get things like the medical booked. I don't know about the DS forms but I *believe* so

Post NVCprocessing and with a DoS case number it may be possible, but that is not what the OP said.

The OP asked if she can use the DHS I-797 to begin the DoS process, and that would be a big no!

Sounds like it is time to get out some of Hank_Amy's drinking songs (from another recent "enlightening" thread) for another round of banter of limited utility.  You know.... I heard it from a friend of my sister's friend...who heard it from....... :wow:
