You can just put the Dallas lockbox address you will be mailing it to, or no address there at all. Texas won't be adjudicating your petition. The lockbox is just a sorting center. Your petition will be sent to either California or Vermont.

Why is the letter of intent asking for [Embassy Address] then? Would you know where my fiance would have to go in Texas for her interview then?

Because later on you'll submit updated letters of intent when you go to the embassy for your interview. Your fiancee won't have an interview. I included no address on my initial letters of intent when filing the petition and had no problems.

It is just a formality. USCIS really doesn't pay much attention that address. *You* as the beneficiary will go to the interview. She will not with the exception of a few certain countries where both the petitioner and the beneficiary are required to be present at the interview. Which country are you from?

That is an example form that was created back when you used to send your petition directly to Vermont or California based on the state you live in. They have since changed that to everyone mails the petition to the Dallas lockbox and they deal with the check and send it off to one of the 2 service centers.

There is no interview for the petitioning USC. The interview will be for you, the intending immigrant at the consulate in your country. That won't happen until after there is an approval of the petition sent in by the USC.

The embassy address is listed on the example letter for use as an updated letter of intent to use for the interview you will eventually have in your country, which is why it says, "OR when submitting for interview"

So all I need to send my fiancée is a passport style photo and a letter of intent?

Almost there. Just gotta gather some photos up of us together with captions and send it to my fiancee to print out.

A question about the g-325a form:

Applicant's last address outside the United States of more than 1 year. < The part where it says From and To ... I get the From part (when I moved into the current house I'm living in) but what about the To part? Is this meant to be a guess of when I'm leaving my current country to go to the U.S.?

1. Copies of all airline boarding passes, train passes, itineraries, hotel receipts, passport stamps (make sure you can read the dates on the stamps), and other documentary evidence that you have met within the last two years. You may want to highlight or place post-it notes indicating the dates and locations on the copies (to make the adjudication easier) for the person reviewing your file.

^ When they say copies of all airline boarding passes - should I only include the ones of me leaving my country, then arriving at hers? And also the ones of me coming back to my country? Because I have many more from the other places we visited. Went to New York and Vegas etc. I mean, they only want proof of us meeting right? Visiting each others country. They also say train passes... I have a couple train tickets.. doesn't really prove anything, no names on it lol. I better head down to the local library and scan all photo copy all this stuff.

If it is proof of your ongoing relationship, include it. It will only help you in the long run. They want proof that you met, but it also must be convincing that it has been an ongoing relationship as well. Take the advise of the person who told you about printing your pictures out and do something similar with your travel evidences and do make notes on those copies saying what they were for. I also included pages from my passport that showed the Visas I had gotten for my trips for good measure.

I also wanted to say one more thing about your name. You will want to use the one that is on your documents and you will want that name to be consistent throughout. I know of one person right now who is going thru a potential Visa denial because they used a different name on their application than what was on their official documents (birth certificate, ID and Passport) So even though you aren't being asked to submit those yet, they will eventually ask for them and if they aren't consistent you could find yourself in a mess. You pointed this out first, you know it is or could be problem for you so I would use the next 6 months (while waiting for your petition to be approved) to get it corrected.

Good Luck.

You're obviously currently living outside the US so your last address outside the US is your current address, and the "To" date you would enter is the current month and year.

There's so many guides and websites that makes me just get confused and lost. Apparently you need passport style photos for this form too? From both people? Whaaaa??? And copies of BOTH our birth certificates and other documents? That means I gotta somehow scan them on my computer and send it to my fiance? Holy moly.

I have like ten different websites open and every link I read up on makes me even more lost and confused. I don't know what to do :(

Hi,

Welcome to Visa Journey! I know this all seems overwhelming, at first. Like you, I had gone to numerous, only to get more and more and more confused. Then I found this one and they break it down to you step by step. I had no clue as to how to begin! I was sure I needed an attorney but my fiance convinced me that we could do it alone.

First thing I did when I came here is read the forums re: K-1 visas and a lot of the questions I had were answered and when I couldn't find a particular answer I posted the question and these folks were swift with the quickness with reliable answers AND support! I read the guidelines and flowchart, gathered the documents needed and when I couldn't stand it anymore and drew on my courage and faith, I sent the packet off, knowing I may done something wrong or forgotten something but I was sure getting an RFE would be further guidance...and it was(although it postponed decision by 2 weeks :bonk: ). We got approved in 33 days and that's WITH an RFE! We didn't get it expedited, neither of us in military...we just followed the guides and advice here.

Our case is atypical, but I bet every dollar I have that if not for Visa Journey and its wonderful members we would not be anywhere near where we are today!

If you can...clear your mind of the gobbily ###### you read elsewhere...take a couple of days to read over the guides here...post questions you will undoubtedly have...then get started on your journey confident that you will soon be with your fiance.

Good luck, God bless and stay positive!
