Ok so I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what's going on or if anyone has had this happen to them. I had a temporary crown put on about 3 weeks ago and then the permanent one put on just a week ago. After the temporary was put on I started feeling some sensitivity and discomfort. I went back to the dentist to have the permanent crown put on and the dentist said perhaps the margins weren't good with the temporary and that's what caused the discomfort. Well the discomfort continued even after the permanent crown was placed. I went back this past Saturday and he took an xray but couldn't find anything wrong. He referred me to an endodontist for a consult for a root canal. Well since yesterday I haven't had any pain or discomfort. Weird. So, was the pain due to work being done and some inflamation of the pulp and now it's back to normal? I'm still going to my consult tomorrow but I'm curious if anyone else has had this happen to them. Thanks!

Did he do a root canal? He may have cracked the tooth.

Sounds about right. I had some work done on a tooth that was REALLY close to a nerve. With all the swelling and agitation of the nerve I was in pain for a week or so then it started to decrease and now that tooth is fine.

Oh good (not that you were in pain lol). That makes me feel better. I am hoping that it was just some irritation due to the work that was done. I really don't want a root canal.

Even a procedure as simple as a filling is uproarious to the tooth, and of course the nerves will object, ow man. Give it time, take aspirin or similar as you need to, and wait it out, si man.
