Greetings Everyone,

I am tired of spending nights alone and about to start my k-1 visa process.. I was thinking after my petition is approved.. Should I move out to Nigeria to be with my fiance while I can do study abroad ?.. I know I have to show proof that I have enough income but I am willing to get another job until my petition is approved... Is this a good idea or not ?..

Pros:

*There can't be any other better situation to show proof, we will live with each other plenty of telephone calls, pictures, emails, pictures etc.

Cons:

*I only work part-time now but I am wiling to get another job asap before I will move to Nigeria so I can do study abroad to be with him...

* Not knowing what the heck the CO will ask why is the reason I move out to Nigeria.. I heard the CO's are the worst in the world !!!....

* Will they deny my fiance because I moved out there short-term (due to my study abroad)

Please if anyone did this please tell me your experience and results from the Interview

THANKS IN ADVANCE

DARA ALINA

we can't really tell you what to do.. but keep in mind, ur income or a co-sponsor and letter from employer are important.. so are proofs that you have visited each other on various times...

try to separate missing fiance now, and getting blinded in ur preparation... ask urself, do you want to be happy now or later? it's hard to have both with this journey...

I looked at the requirements for the Poverty Income Guideline. I currently make a little over $13,000 and live alone with no children.... I rather get another job and also find a co-sponsor to meet the requirements for the I-34 Financial Support....

I understand meeting the requirements is a must but traveling back and forth is very expensive for me and I rather just stay there for a short-term period until his interview date comes... I am just planning ahead of time because I want to be prepared and not denied at all...

Thanks for the input

Well if that is what makes sense to you by all means do that. Keep in mind that a visa is only good for 6 months after issue to enter, the costs of gathering everything to send to NVC, and airfare here.

Would advise you to read this http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/355273-financial-cost-of-k1/ couresty of S_R who shared from his experience. Check your emotions and use your head.

I think you didn't understand my orginal question.. I was simply asking if its a good idea to stay in Nigeria after my petition is approved ? So for instance when my I-129F is approved should I stay in Nigeria until his interview date ?

As of right now I make 13000 yearly and willing to get a another full time job and a co sponsor

Your vacations are your business, and i think would show dedication to relationship as well. I plan on making financial documents at NOA2 date, so therefore if you are not making any money after NOA2, this really wouldn't show up until the I864 is due where you need 125% of poverty. If you have this planned, or a co-sponsor, go for it.

Living in Nigeria doesn't guarantee a visa. Nothing can do that it seems. It will give you more proof of a relationship but you could run the risk of being accused of already being married unless you are going to maintain a separate place to live. If you are thinking of saving money to cover the affidavit you will need 5 times the shortage. The new level for a family of 2 is just short of 19K. If you quit your job and try to do it all in assets and savings you are looking at more that 90k . Your fiance will most certianly face AP which can make the process take months after the interview. Are you ready to live in Nigeria for the better part of a year ? How long have you spent there before ? There are some periods in Nigeria that are quire hard to bear to say the least.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I understood your question. I also understand the complexity of what you're about to do.

I think you should really get urself together here in preparation for ur fiance arrival it is better to be here and challenge that embassy than to be there. If u think you can cope with all aspects of naija and u have ur ducks in a row when it comes to the remainder of the journey then hey u decide. I personally love Naija I lived there for over.7yrs and would definitely move permanantly in a heartbeat.....good luck in ur decision

I moved out and waited with my fiance. It was easier. I dont think it will be a problem. You want to be with your fiance. Your excuse is that your taking advantage of the oportunity to study avroad because ou would be closer to your love. I see no harm in this.

How are you planning to meet the Affidavit of Support requirement without a job in the US?

The job you quit to go to Nigeria and the income from it will not qualify because you will no longer have the job.

A job in Nigeria is not going to count because it will not continue after he immigrates to the US.

Any future job is not going to count because you can't prove employment.

Don't you also have to maintain domicile in the US? My understanding is that while you may go to be with your fiance for the wait, you will also have to keep a permanent address in the US.

Someone please let me know if this is right or wrong.

Passing harsh judgment on those you don't know says nothing of the judged and everything of the judge.
