Romney: Contraception is between a man and a woman... it's none of my business.

Jim Heath, a reporter for ONN-TV in Ohio, just Tweeted a remarkable piece of news: Mitt Romney told him he does not support the Blunt amendment, which would empower employers and insurers to deny health coverage they find morally objectionable.

I just got off the phone with Heath, and he graciously played me the audio. Heath asks Romney if he’s for the “Blunt-Rubio” amendment, and defines it. Romney replies:

“I’m not for the bill. But, look, the idea of presidential candidates getting into questions about contraception within a relationship between a man and a woman, husband and wife, I’m not going there.”

That’s pretty remarkable. If Romney knew what he was saying, the Senate GOP caucus, which is set to vote on this amendment tomorrow, may feel as if Romney has pulled the rug out from underneath them.

I can't wait to become a naturalized American citizen so that I can vote Democratic. It's hilarious that Republicans are always on about how they are against "big government" but they don't seem to have an issue poking their noses into how a woman chooses to live her reproductive life.

Romney will be the Republican candidate for President and he just said contraception is not something presidential candidates should be getting into.

Paying attention is not a requirement to be a USC but maybe it should be.

Then why not vote Libertarian? Sounds like you are one.

Dear "Screw You Hippie" or whatever your name is, I would respond to your comment, but with a slogan like that as your public persona on "Visa Journey", I don't see much point. I'm guessing that nuanced arguments are probably not your forté.

As for Libertarianism, um, no, I'm not socially liberal and fiscally conservative, as most Libertarians seem to be. I come from a country that has a long and proud history of Socialism, and I will be a Socialist until my dying day.

All it will take is for his pollsters to tell him that he made this comment too soon. He'll walk it back in a heartbeat. That's Mitt's essential problem. He stands for nothing at all. Absolutely nothing. He's like a shyster - he'll represent anything and everything.

Romney will be the John Kerry of 2012. What is it with folks from Massachusetts not being able to formulate a position on an issue and then stick with it. If at least for week. Romney can't even stick to a stated position for a day. He should just come out and say it: "I was against the Blunt-Rubio Amendment before I was for it." This is gonna be fun.

Paying attention to Rubber Romneys historic stands on this issue apparently isn't your forte. This would only be big news if Romney actually meant it. Say Anything should be Rimneys campaign motto when he finally wins the nomination.

Romney will be the Republican candidate for President and he just said contraception is not something presidential candidates should be getting into.

Paying attention is not a requirement to be a USC but maybe it should be.

But his spokesperson quickly reversed this, saying Romney 'misunderstood the question'! He has to be the ultimate 'empty suit'!

You don't have to wait. Lots of democrats vote without being citizens.

I come from a country that has a long and proud history of Socialism, and I will be a Socialist until my dying day.

I'm surprised you even came here.

So, in other words, he's just like Obama. He should do really well in the polls.
