Hi Everyone!

I stumbled on this board after spending the past month researching about the fiance visa. I've read quite a bit of threads and now getting all my paperwork in order to file the I-129F.

Anxious, Nervous, and a bit Overwhelmed at the moment as to where to start... Doesn't help that i'm a bit OCPD about things lol...

Anyway, this board looks really informative and I hope I can contribute with my experiences as well as learn from others =o)

Haha...I think most people that go through this process end up being OCD, if they weren't already lol.

When you double-check, triple-check, quadruple-check all your paperwork before you send it, guess it's bound to happen!

1 Dec 2010 - I-130 received at Chicago

18 Apr 2011 - APPROVED!! NOA2 text and email

NVC

29 Apr 2011 - Case entered into the system/Case number assigned; Medical Exam in Sydney

30 Apr 2011 - Police Check Application sent

2 May 2011 - Called NVC and got Invoice ID number

3 May 2011 - Sent DS-3032 email

4 May 2011 - Received email reply from NVC for DS-3032; Received Medical Exam results

5 May 2011 - AOS invoiced and paid

7 May 2011 - AOS package sent; IV invoiced and paid

9 May 2011 - AOS package delivered to NVC according to tracking

20 May 2011 - RFE for missing IV package....still waiting on Police Certificate!

24 May 2011 - Received Police Certificate after 25 days (so much for 7-10!); IV package sent

27 May 2011 - IV package delivered according to tracking

8 Jun 2011 - RFE for original marriage certificate; requested supervisor review since we KNOW it was in the package!

30 Jun 2011 - SIF and CC - FINALLY!!!!

Thanks everyone!

I'm spending a bit of time reading some of the older threads in the I-129F forum so I don't duplicate any questions. I think aside from having to get some stuff cleared up, my request for fiance visa is pretty much straight forward. Anyone sponsored fiance from the AUS? Just wanted to get an idea of average wait times. Especially Melbourne. I did check VJ's link to USCIS average wait times table already... I just wanted to see other people's personal experiences.

Not sure what the current wait times are....but K1 is usually a couple of months quicker than CR1/IR1 so at least you have that going for you! From what I've read here from other Aussies....you are probably looking at around 6 or 7 mths for K1 (as opposed to 9mths it took my CR1 for example).

Just to point out though - your location in Australia doesn't make any difference to the processing. When the time comes for your interview it will be in Sydney as it is the only consulate in Australia that processes immigrant visas.
