Consulate Review: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : July 25, 2013
Embassy Review : I went to the consulate in Amsterdam and arrived 13:15 but had to wait for it to open. There was a pretty long line. At 13:30 we could enter and there were securty guards there moving a scanner. The guy said that if you had ANY electronic device with you, it would take 40-60 minutes extra. I'm glad I left mine in the car.

My bag got checked and went through a bigger detector (like at the airport) and then I had to go to a smaller room with 3 windows. First I gave them my photo's, stamps and birth certificate and support letters stuff, and got my fingerprints taken. Then I was told to take a seat and was called to another window.

It went REALLY fast. The guy had our pages of proof of relationship and just asked a few questions like how we met, how many times, if I like my parents in law, and who proposed and when. I was ready for a lot more but after like 3-4 minutes I was done and he told me that they would send the visa and passport (they take it) back to me in 4-5 work days. I was a bit suprised at how fast it went and hesistant to leave, but it was really done!

So I was outside soon and enjoyed the sunny weather. It was really less of a big deal then I thought it was!
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
