Hello everyone! I'm sure my question has been asked numerous times, but I guess I'm just looking for reassurance. I submitted the 129f for my fiance visa and got the first NOA on February 14 (how romantic!). We're planning a pretty large family wedding (including about 15 members of his family/friends from the UK, all of whom will be getting plane tickets/hotel reservations/etc.) for December 28. The venue is expecting us to put down a deposit soon, so I was just wondering if it's utterly nuts to plan all this/put ourselves at risk to lose tons of money with our visa status in limbo (and also in early stages!).

Most likely you will get your approval by December, but it's never a sure thing.

I definitely wouldn't be too secure in putting down any great amounts of money for a date you're not sure about. Of course, it's your choice, but there is never any guarantee that you will be approved by December.

Good luck with the K-1 process. I hope everything goes according to your plans. Best wishes!!!

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, you are quite correct in assuming that your question has been asked numerous times before. Welcome to the party!

It is generally recommended that no plans requiring deposits, or specified plans be made until you have your K-1 visa in your hand. To be brutally frank, the government bureaucracy is setting your timeline, not you. Your scheduled timeline may work out, but there are too many possible confounding variables.

Other members will likely respond.

Good luck.

it should take between 5 to 6 months to approval.it's not a sure thing, no guarantee,i say don't make any plans until you have visa in hand,it's your call.

I wouldnt risk the disappointment in case it doesn't work...and it not like you just submit it and you're done. you'll have lots to do for the visa between now and visa in hand and some of it does depend on how quickly you get things together. I don't know what your embassy's current interview wait is like, but those kinds of factors can change and you never know what else could delay you! Much as it sucks, that's the reality for us international couples! Also, the waiting for your NOA 2 is one of the hardest and most stressful things. Trying to plan a huge wedding while you're apart and dealing with all the emotional distress is not a good combo. I think you'd be better off to get there and get the K-1 out of the way, have the wedding, file AOS and honeymoon when its all said and done. A lot of people just do a civil ceremony and plan the real wedding after theyre all settled. That's just my opinion and Dec could be just fine! up to you! just depends how you are when it comes to plans changing when you're not expecting it. :) good luck and I hope you get a fast approval. :)

Not so sure I would do any serious planning - yet. But you are dealing with the UK which is not a difficult country for sure, so the odds are in your favor... but they are odds so that means you are gambling.

I think you should be planning a wedding when an interview has been passed whether U.K is a difficult country or not, you can't be very sure. You have a visa valid for 6 months when it is issued so you have a enough time to plan. Be patient and have a relaxed mind :)
