Hi there everyone, just filling out and getting all my stuff together, about to send the I130 in this week hopefully (soooooooooo pumped!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D )... I'm currently residing in Dublin, Ireland however the fees say it's $410. Does it matter if it's a money order in Euro for the exact amount exchanged from dollars? It might be an obvious answer I just don't want to prolong this if possible, thank you! :help::help:

$$$ and make sure to write the check from your USA bank account.

Uh oh, I don't have any checks from my US bank account, it's been inactive since I moved almost 3 years ago. Could my mom in the US possibly write the check and send it to me to send with the form?

She can.

You can also use a money order, but it has to be exactly $420 in USD. You wouldn't want to send 317 Euros only to find out that your petition was rejected because 317 Euros now equals $416.

Hey Pumpkin, From the most recent Dublin Embassy reviews (link below) on here they seem more than happy to take Cash Dollars for the amount at the Embassy counter which is much more helpful and practical, thats what I will be bringing, so happy days

Wow seems easy enough thank you for the link Brian! :) Did you start the process recently? I'm hoping that sending everything to the Chicago lockbox doesn't prolong the process too much!

Sorry, yes, the embassy will usually accept cash, but if you're filing through Chicago Lockbox, send US check or money order in USD.

As for delaying when filing to Chicago.. If you're currently residing in Ireland, you'll fly through the USCIS in about 2 - 4 weeks :) They expedite cases where the USC lives in the benficiary's country!

There's some confusion here: as far as I can see, Ireland doesn't have a local USCIS office, which means that there's no possible DCF.

So the OP will be sending his I-130 petition to USCIS lockbox in the USA. It has NOTHING to do with the visa fee itself, and it's NOT paid at the embassy. It's the petition fee and must be sent in $ with a money order or check from a US bank together with the forms and evidence.

So yes, someone can write a check and send it to you as long as it's a US based bank account.

What we did was have my mother in law send my husband his own checkbook to France via UPS so he could write the check.

You could send the entire package to your mother, unsealed and pre-addressed, inside the shipping envelope that way she could just put the check in the package, seal it and then get tracking or whatever you want, and send it.

If you'll be mailing the petition to Chicago, then you'll need to follow the I-130 instructions. A check from Mom will be fine. If you're doing a direct consular filing, follow Dublin's instructions. Gotta have the context right to get the right answer.

I don't know about that one! I've been living with my husband

in England since January 2011 and they sure haven't expedited

our case

I think you basically sent your petition before they started "auto-expediting" these cases.
