Sorry, yes, the embassy will usually accept cash, but if you're filing through Chicago Lockbox, send US check or money order in USD.

As for delaying when filing to Chicago.. If you're currently residing in Ireland, you'll fly through the USCIS in about 2 - 4 weeks :) They expedite cases where the USC lives in the benficiary's country!

I don't know about that one! I've been living with my husband

in England since January 2011 and they sure haven't expedited

our case

I think you basically sent your petition before they started "auto-expediting" these cases.

Gotcha! So auto-expediting is kind of a new thing?

Wow seems easy enough thank you for the link Brian! :) Did you start the process recently? I'm hoping that sending everything to the Chicago lockbox doesn't prolong the process too much!

Aaaah you're filing through Chicago DCF, i see, sorry I should have looked at your post better, then the other people have given you good advice, your Mom should be able to help you with it, send your packet to her and she can include the check and send it to CHicago lockbox etc. My bad!

Been in the process since June 11, hoping that my case is on the way to Dublin right now so I can get back to the US soon

Not sure how new it is, but since a lot of consulates aren't allowing for DCF anymore, the USCIS has expedited plenty of petitions that might as well have been filed directly with the consulate.

I have no idea when they started doing this. Like Laure&Colin said, it might have been after you filed.

Did you provide your UK address in the original petition?

It seems to have started in September or October...

It's really too bad they wouldn't expedite your case when you asked though, knowing petitions filed in the same conditions as yours are now processed within 1 month or less... :(
