IN the example forms I-130 for CR-1 PDF. IN section c #17 "info about alien relative"

The example lists the wrong person. Should be the name and info of alien relative.....correct?

No its not wrong.

17. List husband / wife and all children of your alien relative.

You The USC are married to the alien relative. You list yourself and any of your spouses kids.

I trust you,

BUT....17. List husband / wife and all children of your ALIEN RELATIVE.

Alien Relative seems pretty clear that the info should be about the alien relative, that seems to be very contradictory to me.

Weird.

Okay. You, the USC are completing the form for YOUR alien relative. In this case it's YOUR husband. This form isn't just for you though. It's also for children petitioning their parents, or parents petitioning their children for example.

If someone was petitioning their married son (making their son the alien relative) then they would list in that section their son's wife and children.

In your case however you are petitioning your husband (making HIM the alien relative). Qn 17 wants details of the wife and children of the alien relative being petitioned by that form (being your husbands wife and children).

Make sense?

Listen to Inky and Vanessa&Tony,

It asks who the wife of the alien relative - That's YOU.

YOU are the wife of your husband, so list yourself.

Exactly. If you were petitioning for your mother, your mother's husband's (maybe your father) name would be entered there. When petitioning for a spouse, the petitioner HAD BETTER BE the alien relative's spouse.

In your defense, this one trips up many folks. You seem to have ignored the word "of".
