Hi,

I have a question I can't seem to find the answer to. We are not close to any USCIS office so I am trying to figure out which one we would go to? Does USCIS assign one or do we go to the closest one? Do they tell us which one it is when we get our biometrics appointment letter or NOA1? Thank you!!!

Yes, they will tell you where to go. And actually, the place where they do biometrics (ASCs - application support centers) isn't always the same as the district offices where they do interviews (it's not in Boston).

Basically, your interview (if you have one) will be at one location and your biometrics appointment will be at another ...

Your biometrics will be at one of the support centers and you can go to this web site to figure which one it will probably be ... http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/fieldoffices/ascs/index.htm ... USCIS will tell you the location and time on your NOA you receive in regards to your biometrics appointment ... They don't let you pick it but I am pretty sure they figure out which one is closest to your location ...

As for your interview (if you get transfered to CSC then you will probably not have an interview) they will once again let you know in your NOA in regards to the location and time ... It will not be at the same place you had your biometrics so you may have to travel a little further for this one ...

I just learned there is a city in California named CALEXICO. Is that California and Mexico? Yikes.

I didn't know there is an office in Goleta! That's where my parents live and I grew up there! It's only an hour and a half away so yay! Thanks everyone.

I was wondering the same sort of thing too as I am in Michigan, but my nearest office is in Duluth, next nearest is in Wisconsin, then the nearest in Michigan. But I am guessing they will go by state and not geography.

I think they generally try to put your biometrics at the closest ASC to you, even if it's in another state.
