Hello there! Here I am again!

I just want to share my AOS interview experience today, October 3rd, in Los Angeles, California.

My interview appointment: 8:50 am

My husband and I left home at 7:30am. My husband and I drove down there, and arrived at 8:20am. We got inside the Immigration building... Our interview was inside the room 6001(6th floor).

We waited for more than an hour until my name was called(9:45). A mexican/south american woman(i'm not sure because she speaks spanish) called my name, so we went into her office, then someone called on her cellphone.... and she answered and talked for like 3 minutes. She had her radio on, too.

After her talking on the phone, she apologized... and asked for my birth certificate.

She then asked for my husband's driver's license, and my passport for verification.

She took our album, and look into our pictures. While scanning, she asked us where did we get married... and why did we move from Arizona to California.

She asked some questions about our pictures,,, who were in certain pictures, and all that.

She asked what's the job of my husband, and then asked me if i'm working.

She asked us how did we meet.

She asked for some joint documents, then placed inside the folder.

Then she said 'I've seen enough, so just wait for your greencard within 2 weeks.'

That's it!!!

BUT... BUT... BUT... I had to ask some questions, because I made a mistake in answering my G-325A. I had some errors, so she corrected them.

And, another thing... We have a lawyer, but didn't hire him to represent us today(for my interview)... It's simply because we want to save some money... hehehe... He told us to file I-130, so we did it, I told the IO that in my own knowledge, if I came here as a K-1 Visa holder, I don't need to file I-130 as long as we get married within the 90-day period. She agreed. We asked her if we can cancel the I-130 petition, and she said there's nothing we can do, and we cannot refund anything. I was thinking to myself, we just wasted money... lol but that's fine, past is past. :D

She asked us who's our lawyer, and told us we can do file all by ourselves. We explained that the reason we hired a lawyer was because my k-1 visa was expiring in a few days and I called USCIS and asked if we can file AOS after 90 days. All of them told me I should file within 90 days or else I will be out-of-status(I called 4 times). The IO told us that we were misinformed. She said AS LONG AS YOU GET MARRIED WITHIN 90 DAYS,,, YOU MAY FILE AOS WHENEVER YOU WANT!!! She gave an example::: She had an interview where the woman applied for AOS 2 years after her interview, but got married within the 90-day period... SHE APPROVED IT.:thumbs::thumbs:

SO, IF YOU CAME HERE AS A K1 VISA HOLDER AND GOT MARRIED WITHIN THE 90-DAY PERIOD, DO NOT BELIEVE IF PEOPLE TELL YOU THAT YOU MUST APPLY FOR AOS WITHIN THAT PERIOD, TOO.... OKIES?

After that, we thanked her for the information... and told us to not get a lawyer next time because we can do it without a lawyer's help.

We got out of her office at 9:58am.

We exit the building, and I rememberd something... lol SHE DID NOT ASK FOR MY HUSBAND'S EMPLOYMENT LETTER, PAY STUBS, AND MY I-693A!!! :crying: I was freaking out... I don't want anything bad to happen, so my husband and I decided to go back. We talked to a filipina representative inside the room 6001 and told her we need to pass those documents(because we did not include those when i submitted the aos application form). She said it's not necessary if the IO did not ask for it,,, but i insisted, because I don't want to waste money(we spent $170 just to complete that) hahaha So, she took only the I-693a sealed enveloped and talked to the IO who interviewed us. She came back and told us we should not worry about anything because it has already been approved, and just wait for the greencard within 2 weeks... hahaha :D I'm so silly :D

That was it!!! hahaha  I'm crazy, eh?!?

I am so happy that they approved my AOS application,,, awww... I'm really thankful to all of you for your support. I appreciate everything... I have learned a lot from here. AND, I will keep checking this website, and try to help answering other people's questions when it comes to adjusting status(that is only if i know the answers) hahaha :luv:

To all those people who are going the same process,,, just relax, and everything will be okay!!!

Goodluck, guys!

Thanks!!!

Congratulations,

We waited for a year to file AOS, the only issue is ther "Annie" was "out of status", whatever that means. And that she could not get a license.

The opinion is varied even within USCIS, we have been told many things about being "out of status" bottom line is that she is legal.
