What is the thing you miss the most from your country???

Like many others here i miss sidewalks, reliable public transportation (where i live here it just doesn`t exist) and i miss food, especially fresh baked bread (bread here is terrible, and i tried many, many types from many different stores) and the many varieties of delicious meats. Also veggies and fruits here don`t seem as tasty.

Also miss the nice cafes and pubs with good music where i could spend hours just chatting and relaxing with my friends.

Kennard, I live in Jamaica, NY and the park just behind my house has 2 cricket fields, with people playing every weekend.

I was never really a cricket fan when I grew up though (in the UK).

Kind of a random thing to come to mind, but I miss mince and cheese pies and V energy drink. Yum.

Oh, and being in a bar/pub/nightclub past 2am and not having all the lights switched on and told to leave, what a buzz-kill!

I really appreciate your response. I'm very sorry if my post came across as being snarky or grumpy or defensive about what you said. I was intending to be grumpy/snarky etc. about Tulsa (or perhaps Oklahoma in general). I did not intend to direct the grumpiness at you, and I'm sorry if it came across that way. It doesn't make sense for a person to be grumpy at/about sidewalks (or the lack of sidewalks), but I am... er... was... or something. I'm tired and I don't make sense. But you know what else doesn't make sense? My in-laws live in a small gated community about 1 1/2 hours away in a fairly rural area (which also is a new thing to me... why do they need gates? They live in the middle of nowhere. But that's neither here nor there. Hehe.) They have sidewalks on both sides of their street. You couldn't get hit by a car while walking on their street if you tried... because that would involve cars. So not fair. I guess that's enough sidewalk rage from me. For now.

Oh, god. I have so much sidewalk rage. I live about a mile from my son's school and less than a mile (in the opposite direction) from a local playground. We can't walk to either of them because the sidewalks take you partway there and just bleeping stop! A few months ago, the school board was threatening to cut busing for kids who lived less than 2 miles away from the school so I guess my 8 yo was just supposed to cut through peoples' yards or walk on the precarious edge of a busy street. Grr.

Zendium toothpaste

That's one thing I think I am going to miss, "my" toothpaste. I sometimes use Zendium too, but mostly Apoteket's (Swedish formerly state-run pharmacy chain) own brand of get toothpaste. What if I can't find anything similar?

I've actually realized that when I visit Finland I really enjoy things that I didn't pay attention when living there. Like last time I was there I was so happy having a walk in this foggy, drizzly, cloudy day! And when it was the time of the year when it's pretty much few hours sun light and other times pitch dark (and even when it was "sun light time" it was basically cloudy) I was honestly loving the atmosphere

Of course, and above all, I miss my family and friends - especially my mom!!

I also miss the great health care, public transport (especially trams!) and rye bread! Every time I'm in Finland I immediately start by eating some proper rye bread!! Last time I ate full month the same exact rye bread sandwich because it's so bloody good!!!

But I'm so happy to be with my hubby and finally have a normal married life where I don't need to see him going to the airport's security check knowing that I can't be hold by him for some time again - or vice versa, me flying away from him. I really love that I don't need to think about the time difference to call him! I love that he is now in our bedroom having a nap and I'm just some feet away from him in the living room. So I'm so incredibly happy to be without rye bread actually
