Bossy and nagging ain't just American women. It's women in general.

My bad... I didn't know that was a universal trait of women. LOL!!!

 It's true. We learn this at a very early age. Back in pre-school, before we actually got "grades" the teachers would send us home with these little progress reports. A few years back, I came across one of mine in which the teacher wrote that I had a tendency to "boss the other children around" and that, interestingly, they listened to me.

Who needs a boyfriend 5000 miles away?

Hell no I wasn't looking for him.

Didn't want to let him go after I did find him, though.

Couldn't have said it better than Becs....

It really irritates me when ppl talk about a whole gender of a nationality as if they're talking about a specific breed of dog.

Don't know what I mean? Mosey onto the Russian forum :o

The thread about why men are looking overseas for wives...

I really think that only applies to two groups of people..and I think this poll will prove me right :)

It's nice to know that there's an axe to grind behind every poll.

I can't fairly answer your poll, so I'm gonna put this out there and you can "axe" me anything you'd like... LOL

SO #1 -- I was not looking for specifically a foreign woman. Although, I goty involved with a Canadian woman, from chatting online. We'd been "together" for a bit over a year, but never went through the Visa process. I don't consider the Canadian woman as "foreign" really but I'm going to count her as SO #1. When the relationship ended, I put myself out there on some websites...

SO - #2 Somehow I bungled my way across websites and wound up on one with Russian women. One woman of interest started writing to me. Somehow we managed to stumble across each other through this website and what the heck, I decided to go meet her. It was an adventure, she was Russian, and wow, I'd always wanted to go visit Eastern Europe. I loved being in Russia and I made a LOT of Russian friends, both male and female while I was there. I learned a lot, language, culture, country, history, etc. Even have a picture of me walking through Red Square with a can of Coca-Cola in my hand. I call it "the Triumph of Capitalism..."

But, unfortunately our relationship ended before any Visa could be issued. I won't go into the history of why. My Russian friends (both male and female) immediately started introducing me to other eligible women. I wasn't even really looking. One Russian woman friend sent me a link to a website, to refer me to some of her other friends to "check out". She knew many of them, all of whom were looking and eligible and she knew I was single. She wanted to "set me up". Much like some American women I know.

So I opened the front page of the website she sent me and WOW! Who was this woman, I absolutely had to know who she was and get to know her.

SO #3 - My Russian woman friend then arranged that we could get to know each other. Again I wasn't really looking other than generally just kinda looking around, and Blam! there she was. But mostly we were introduced by a mutual friend. This was a Russian woman living in America who had many contacts back in her home city, which is where this woman was from. Call it combined "website profile" along with "introduction by mutual friend". Wasn't looking for anyone in particular but she knocked my socks off and I just HAD to know her.

Well, as all we know from the other thread, we did the K-1 thang, we got married, the marriage tanked (for multiple reasons, most of which will never be posted on VJ).

Now, it's 2006. After having almost five years invested in Russian language, culture, history, experience, many trips over there, made many many friends of Russian ethnicity both here in the US and in Russia, books and language classes, being immersed in several Russian relationships, girlfriends, pen-pals, "dating", even an ex-wife....

Yes, I'm specifically looking to meet another Russian woman.

Oh by the way, my ethnicity is half Eastern-European, which also might explain why I feel so comfortable in a culture that is different than our own, and why, I'm told, my linguistic skills are excellent.

SO #4?? -- Yes, I'm specifically looking to meet a Russian woman as by now I'm very very comfortable with them, regardless of the fact my last relationship (marriage) tanked.

Just because a relationship tanked didn't mean I was giving up on all women, so just because my relationship with my Russian wife tanked, doesn't mean I'm giving up on all Russian Women.

Oh and by the way, I've dated and made plenty of friends, American women where I live, during the interludes between involvements and SO's.

The place where I work has about 76% female employees to male, I'm not ugly, I can meet women mostly wherever I choose.

I have many many female friends. I was raised with sisters. Most of my life, most of my close friends have been female. And you know, none of them seem to feel that I'm some sort of misogynstic ####### either.

They seem to feel I'm a damn nice guy who really deserves to have someone special in his life. And they enjoy hearing about my adventures, and what the hell, if I died tomorrow, my cat wouldn't be able to spend my money, so frankly, I'm enjoying spending it on exotic trips overseas, such as Moscow, Paris, Rome, Prague or other exotic locales I never would have gone had I not begun to consider a "foreign" partner in my life.

Hope your "axe" stays sharp.

Why? If it's an off-topic poll, why can't it stay in off-topic?

Then there's no need for a poll forum. What would go in there?

General polls. This one was a special poll for the off-topic audience.
