Hello all,

Me and my fiancé are about to start the K1 visa process. I read on a German immigration forum that obviously some people are getting their I-129F applications rejected for the reason of not having sent in enough proof of having met in the past two years - despite them saying that they sent in boarding passes, passenger itineraries, passport stamps, photos, and the like. That just completely scares me and makes me feel insecure about having enough proof myself.

Our plans so far are to send for proof of having met: passport stamps, boarding passes (only one of them has the year on it though - the other ones only contain month/day), passenger receipts, 12 photos, receipts from places we have visited together, and three e-mails for each visit (saying things such as "I can't wait to see you" etc. I know e-mails are not necessary, but we think they might support our other documents.

Shall we send affidavits from our families along, certifying that they have met me/my fiancé in the last two years?

Also, I sent my letter of intent off to my fiancé yesterday. I typed it, and dated it (the date is placed on top of the letter and typed), and signed it in blue ink. Now I am starting to wonder if I should have hand-written the date again next to my signature... ? Could not doing so give us an RFE? Nothing has been sent to the USCIS yet, so I could still mail my fiancé a new letter of intent if necessary.

Any advice is appreciated!!

Thanks!

Not sure if you are implying that photos are enough to show "meeting in past two years", because they are not.

You do follow up at the end saying you did send boarding passé's and passport stamps. Just want to clarify for the OP that is these type of documents (passports stamps, boarding p's) that are essential for showing "meeting in past two years" and should be included in the petition package.

The other documents the OP mentioned are great to include for front loading, but doubt if that is needed as Germany isn't exactly a high fraud country! 26_25_3.gif

Thanks!

I think that matching passport stamps with flight tickets are one of the most important evidence. We included also I-129F supplement:Part B, Question 18, Explanation of meeting in person. - It was just one paper where I chronologically wrote when we met, where we met and how can we prove it: (flight ticket from-to, stamp in the passport page xy, picture of us in the city xy - number of picture - don't forget to write your names on the back side of the picture & when and where it was taken). I think it's a good idea to include it, it will make your case more 'uebersichtlich':)

One picture from each trip is enough. We also included few emails from different period.

Check this out: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide It was a big help for us.

And your letter of intent will be just fine. You did it right. Wish you viel Glueck!:)

That is is very close to what I sent in, only four photos, and I didn't bother with any emails as they do not provide proof of havning met within the past two years, no issues.... approved and heading towards the embassy. And the intent letters were typed including the date and of course signatures in ink.

Thanks!

When we submitted our I-129F application package we did not include as much proof as so many people say they do. We had met with my fiancé only once when I traveled to the USA on J1, and we were together for most of the time I stayed there (18 months).

So we included my boarding pass with passport stamps from that trip to the USA, a copy of my J1 visa, a map showing our train trip destinations in the USA, 12 photos, 4-5 email exchanges, 4-5 aol chats, 8 Skype snapshots, internet bills I paid to talk to him after we were apart, scanned copies of a couple cards we mailed to each other, e-cards, shipment receipts of parcels we shipped to each other. That was about it. We both think the photos are the best proof.

As regards to the forms, we had signed them all in blue ink, and the dates were not hand-written.

Our I-129F petition was approved on Jan 31st and we got our NOA2 on Feb 4th.

Good luck to you.

Yep, I know. I doubt either that front loading is necessary for Germany, but I guess we'll just send the e-mails along... It won't hurt after all! Thanks! :)

PS: I like that smiley you used! Just how we Germans are - eating Bratwurst, wearing funny clothes, and drinking beer 'til we drop! ;) You forgot the fast car and blonde woman next to the smiley guy though, lol!

Thanks a lot, Janulka! We answered question 18 in only three sentences (how we met online, and the dates of when we saw each other in person), but we do have additional sheets of papers that we put the photos on and that state the exact dates, whom of family/friends we met, and places we visited - and then behind that, the passenger receipts, boarding passes, and passport stamps. Thought it would be most 'übersichtlich' that way! :) Phew! I'll be glad when we have sent this off.

Timeline
