Here's a way that will work on both Windows and Mac to download Skype chat and/or call logs. It pulls the data from your username's main.db file.

http://stephanietan.boldersecurity.com/2011/04/analyzing-skype-chat-and-call-logs.html

WOW! I've been looking for a way to do this on Mac for quite some time. Thank you so much! I just did this, formatted it nicely in excel, and pasted into word... we have over 1100 pages of chat logs at a 10 point font in 5 months... quite a lot to drag into an interview, haha.

Although I can't imagine the average user being able to follow this guide very easily. Wish there was an easier solution for the non-techies.

thx, now I manage to see my skype folder by going thro the "normal route" BUT if i try to open the database thro SQLite then I don't even have Library in my Local User Name :///

I know I am not super smart on technology ... LOL

Lion hides the user library by default. Try this:

In Finder, press, Cmd-Shift-G (Go to a folder)

Then type "~/Library" in the text box, without quotes

You should be able to drill down from there to application support, skype, etc.

surely you may as well just open a text editor and type it in by hand??

and heres another one

wow..thanks for this file, I just tried it!

This is a much better format of the chats as opposed to just copy/paste.

Did i see someone say there is a program you can use to pull up facebook chats? please if there is any i will love to know the name. I formatted my pc sometime in January and so i don't think i have all the skype chats from 2010 till date but I'm sure my fiancee has it all. Does anyone know if i can still recover my skype chat history after formatting my computer? i know it doesn't affect gtalk history because it goes in the mail on its own folder

I am going to send the entire 2 year history!

Hmmmm...as far as the arguments though, I may not include our arguments but even if I did, I can't see the CO reading every message word for word. I don't know of any couple that has never argued or disagreed before...so wouldn't it look normal to include the arguments when submitting this for proof of ongoing relationship?

I managed to make it work, since I could see the folder thro Finder, what I did is copy and paste my skype folder on the desktop. You prob are saying, thats great! Yeah, if I wasnt stuck at "how to get the chats onto excel" I did manage but it's not the full conversation/chat I see... and how to get the date in a "readable format"? I'm prob not literate enough to go through this way, I know! altho I like to try and get annoyed I can't understand it, so I get even more stubborn and want to find a way! (this is how we learn, at least us, not geniuses! LOL)

The original link has a query that formats the date. http://stephanietan.boldersecurity.com/2011/04/analyzing-skype-chat-and-call-logs.html

SELECT author as source,chatname,strftime('%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S', timestamp,'unixepoch','localtime') as start_time,body_xml as message from messages

I understand this is complicated for anyone who hasn't messed with databases before. I really wish someone would make a program like SkyHistory for Mac. Good luck!
