Consulate Review: London, United Kingdom
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 14, 2012
Embassy Review : I got to the USA embassy at 7:20 for my 8am appointment, they made us queue outside while checking our appointment letter and passport and make sure we didnt have anything like phones, car keys etc with us. Before letting 4 people in at a time through the VISA entry, they checked again appointment letter and VISA fee receipt.
Got through security very quickly and then walked to the entrance, where at reception I was given my number: I902. It was 7:38 when I sat down in the waiting room to be called at 8 at desk 14 where a friendly guy asked for appointment letter, visa fee receipt and passport, went to get my pink folder and started dissembling my file. I was asked for 2 passport photos and my birth certificate. I got it from the Italian Consulate in Edinburgh already in English and he wasn't sure it would be accepted as it had a slightly different format than the usual ones (it had both my parents' names on it!).. he asked me how I requested it, so explained that I had filled in a form where I put that I needed for a USA visa. He then asked for my police certificates and later the financial support docs. I handed him everything, which included I-134, tax return, 3 pay stubs and letter of employment. He kept all and put into my file.
He then handed me the pink sheet and got it filled there as I didnt' have a pen with me!
He added that everything seemed to be in order but that the final decision was for the CO and that my VISA would have been valid till 30th jan 2013 since it's linked to when the medical was done.

so after 20 mins at desk 14, I got back to the waiting room where I waited another 30 mins to be then called at desk 15. The CO was a guy with glasses, friendly but quite serious. He asked me:

what is your fiance name?
how did you meet?
what was he doing there?
how long did you spend together that time?
what does he do in alaska?
how long has he been in the airforce for?
and in Alaska?
how long is he gonna be stationed there for?
what does he want to do after that?
when did you see him next?
and more recently?
have you met his family?
has he come to see you?
to conclude with
are you gonna have kids?

so after some typing I heard (i had to stick to the glass as he was speaking quite softly) ".. approve.. VISA. Congratulations!" He then told me to go back to the waiting room and go and pay the courier fee. I thanked him and wished him a nice day. He didn't mention at all the "do-not-open-that-envelope" nor anything about POE.
But I know it all already so thats clear :D

After kittlylondon experience with the courier I thought to ask for delivery by 12pm, but was told that they don't do it over the olympics (aren't they over now?) oh well...

I was out at 9:05!
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Anchorage
Event Description
Entry Date : 2012-10-06
Embassy Review : Arrived on a direct flight from Frankfurt (Germany). Despite half an hour delay, POE made up for it! I was with an officer in a very little time and he was very nice. He asked for the sealed envelope, gave me back the xray cd and while he was opening it he asked a few questions: my fiance's name, when we were getting married, how did we meet. We even had time to share a couple of jokes (mainly abt the weather! lol)
Definitely a good experience and super quick!
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
