RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - A Brazilian jetliner carrying 140 people was reported missing Friday in the Brazilian Amazon, according to news reports quoting aviation officials.

Brazilian airport authority president, Jose Carlos Pereira, told CBN radio that the air force was searching for the Gol airlines jet in a densely forested region.

The plane left the Amazon city of Manaus on Friday afternoon, the O Globo news agency reported, citing aviation authorities. Manaus is the Amazon's major riverside city located about 1,700 miles northwest of Sao Paulo.

Pereira said that a local farmer reported seeing a large plane flying low.

Gol airlines is one of Brazil's top domestic carriers

I'm sure he's fine. A flight from the US wouldn't bounce from Manaus to Brasilia to Rio, and if memory serves his fiancee lives in Parana, which is in the south. The plane went down very far from there and wasn't headed for Curitiba, which is the major city in the state of Parana.

There's almost no chance he was on that plane.

I'm sure Charles is OK, and I don't think we have any VJers from Manaus. They don't route people through there ever. But my goodness, so many people...

It was a domestic flight leaving Manaus to Rio. Charles is okay. :)

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.
